Thanks mate :) I spoke with Russ earlier about sharing his evo5, but he suggested we both use the R35...... navigate alternately for eachother. So we're in with a chance :D

Excellent. That's good news Ben. I hope you can make it.

Thanks Coop, hope to mate :D

Well done to all at Rally Tas on the weekend, Kel especially. Good time had by most by all accounts, Kel, good stuff :) Great to see Quinny through for a win too :ermm:

Someone who's spec C didn't finish the event too flash :) ;

Rolled big time, 7 to 8 times, crew ok

Bloody hell, 7 rolls over - as long as he's ok!

Quick question though; why would you run a spec c rex, or a type RA etc over a normal STi in Targa - they're all the same mechanicals arent they? Unless some JDM models get a significant HP increase...

Thanks Coop, hope to mate ;)

I will have to find my carnage pics and post! There was plenty of it, especially on Savage which should bring back memories Benny ;)

Anyone who came off this weekend didn't do it by halves that's for sure.

And thanks for the congrats- I had an awesome weekend and was just happy to finish - top 5 was a bonus.

It was brilliant to see Quinny win - he fought hard for it and deserved it, especially considering he is running a relatively 'undeveloped' car with road tyres.

Better get your finger out and get that 35 ready for Targa Tas Russ :)

PS: Hats off to Timmy- teh master navi!

Yeh how rediculous was it that they continued the stage even after that mazda crashed in a big way and was taking up 3/4 of the road. And the fact that the crew were standing on the outside of a corner carrying on like headless chickens it was enough to startle you!

I can definately say my weekend was probably one of the more interesting ones, I learn't ALOT over the weekend and met ALOT of great people. Kel your a champ! and a caring one at that!

It was a worthwhile experience and I think I taught my driver alot in the three days, so hopefully it helps him in further rallies. It felt a bit weird being the master as opposed to the apprentice.

Im looking more and more forward to Targa and futher rallies this year and hopefully some good news!

What is AASA? Austrailian Auto Sport Accosiation? All i really know is CAMS because all the events up this way are all cams events.

There is no way my car will meet the M2 catigory at all cause it fails on about 10 criteria for being over modified but i'm told by Some people i've talked to that it'll probably sneak in under PRC rules which the event is also open to. I'm not a hundred percent sure that mine will pass but we'll see. They have let a few small curly ones slide in the past..... :P

I sent Russ a email the other day to see if he'd be keen so hopefully he hasn't commited to anything else that weekend. Be good to have the RGM boys back up for another event. Otherwise anything I can do to help people make the journey up to Townsville possible, just let me know.

The GTR doesn't fit the criteria for PRC and it'd be a dog with restrictors, but who cares... in the interest of getting the event off the ground eligibility shouldn't matter too much anyway.

What’s the entry fee? I'm keen to sending either the Evo or RX7 north during 2010

I answered my own question on the GPS @ rally tas btw

tried it on the first leg, realised it was just a distraction, and left it off for the rest of the rally (didn't even use it on the touring stages)

but then i also had to go through my notes after leg one and delete any distance call less than a 100- we were going so quick i barely had time to get the shorter distances out before needing to call the next corner!

anyone think the chicane on oldina was too small? apparently there were a lot of complants about it.

we were warned about it being tight so I cautioned it but in the end it didn't seem that bad?

hmmm think i better sort that one out!

highest bidder? :)

Chicane on Yolla was a little open, but they are something to drive by eye... didnt see any problem.

The place ment of bollards meant the roads were very clean... good thing. Broken pass mirror - not so good LOL.

I am glad they didn't stop Savage east for the mazda... it was no worse than the escort or jag. The guys were a little excited, but that meant you could see them. We get all the road and they had only blocked one lane.

Great little event... and one we will do in the future.

TT

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
    • I haven’t yet cut the chassis, maybe I switch to a reverse flow. I’ve got the Intercooler mounted as I already had it but not cut yet. Might have to speak to an engineer
    • Yes that’s another issue, I always have a front mount, plus will be turbo plus intake will big hasstle. I’ve been told if it looks stock they’re fine with it by a couple others who have done it ahahaha.    I know @Kinkstaah said the stock gtt airbox is limiting but I might just have to do that to avoid a defect so it atleast looks legit. Or an enclosed pod so it’s hidden away and feed air from the snorkel and below Intercooler holes like kinstaah mentioned. Hmm what to do
