i still find the best way to bleed the things is on a hoist, wheels in the air. Bleed them at the nipple on the transfer while someone's in the car creating a "wheelspin" situation.... if you know what I mean?

i just unplug the bleed wire in the RH kick panel, and let the pump pulse with someone in the boot tipping

oil in, while i crack thre bleed nipple on the transfer

but then again most GTR transfer's need a good rebuild by this point in there life,

when we measured up my spare box it needed 90 thou worth of shim's to get it back

to almost factory spec..

We spent the last 3 days down in the area for our recce. Course looks very interesting, plenty of fast long corners :D

The dirt section between Jamieson and Big River seems to have been graded all the way through now and is fairly smooth with no holes etc... There is a lot of small, loose gravel on the top though which will bury themselves into our tyres.

How does everyone plan to clean out their tyres? We were thinking of taking an ice scraper style thing and a screw driver to clean as much as we can out of the tyres, that's if there is enough time before the start of the next stage.

Don't worry about it...It's exactly the same as the Pelverata Stage at TWP- straight off the stage and onto the gravel road, you will find all the rocks will clear themselves as soon as you get back on the tarmac.

We are leaving this Sunday, really looking forward to it!

I'm sure this has already been covered somewhere, but can anyone confirm the bowsers with 98 for Targa High Country? I"m going to sign up with race Fuels as a backup, but I'd like to fill from the bowser as much as possible.

The BP on the Mt Buller Rd in Mansfield has 98. We pass it Friday for prologue, Saturday morning after Mirimbah and Saturday arvo prior to Mt Buller...hope they have big tanks!!!

Sunday we're clean outta luck!

(oh and from memory the Caltex on the main st of Mansfield has Vortex 98 as well)

Hope that helps :P

What's the official/legal ruling on carrying fuel. I know we had the warning about being safe, but there was no clear cut definition of what is considered safe, and more to the point, what is legal.

The only ruling I can find is that there is a maximum of 250L allowed per passenger vehicle, but no definition on how it is to be carried.

Hope you're not contemplating working in control....or have the head games started already? :P

Ooooppppssss yeah won't be doing that *reads over regs again...

The Caltex at Eildon has 98 too, not sure how 'fresh' it would be though as it is not really the middle of anywhere...

Has anyone got the latest High Country GPS kmz file? The one I have is from Sep 21, and I can't seem to find the link for the file anymore.

I just emailed it to you.

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
