The R33 GTR Brembo front pads. What is the Bendix part number?

On their website, they have:

DB1170

Year: 1989 – 2001

Model: Skyline

Variant: R32, R33, R34 GTR (Import) Turbo

Set consists of: 2 Inner Pads and 2 Outer Pads

FMSI: 7340-D460

and

DB1520

Year: 1990 – 2001

Model: Skyline

Variant: R32; 33; 34 GTR Brembo Caliper

FMSI: 7858-D960

So, what's the difference? One does say brembo, but I didn't know there was a R34 GTR without brembo pads for example. I also didn't know there was a "non-import" or "aus-spec" GTR, or any R32-R34 for that matter. Any advice here?

hey funny timing, I was just mentioning this mistake in another thread yesterday.

the website is incorrect, db1170 is non-brembo r32 gtr only (aus delivered and imported). all other gtrs run the brembos and part # db1520

Hi Guys

Sorry for bumping an old thread.

Just wanting to confirm that Bendix 1520 & 1521 are the correct pads for an R34 GTR with Brembo's?

It is according to the bendix website I just want to be sure. Cheers

please don't get those god awful pads.. you might as well be using 2x sheets of glass as brake pads.

At least go with Intima Pads, Project Mu, EBC, Hawk, Ferrodo, and as much as I dislike QFM yes go with them.. no Bendix.. YUCK!

btw.. I can get Intima Pads at a good price, PM me if you're interested.

Are they really that bad? I've normally run Bendix on most of my cars and never had an issue??

till they crumble on you and your brakes don't work..

I thought the same, put a set of Bendix CT pads on the daily because I needed some ASAP and didn't have time to order decent pads and they turned to absolute shit.

I took them out, took photos and sent them to Bendix Australia... they didn't say much and sent me back a set of Bendix HD and that was it.

Also about 6~7 years ago, I always thought Bendix was awesome, put a set of Bendix Ultimates on my old R33 and it squealed, chewed rotors like a crack wh0re and faded even going though the Royal National Park. Moved to QFM A1RM and that fixed everything.

Now fast forward 7 years I refuse to use any of the 2x brands mentioned in this post.

I run bendix in my evo, general CT as they are the only ones that dont squeal in my car :P

But definitely go project Mu, those things are amazing, also comes with high quality shims so should be less noisy than other track/high performance street pads.

    • Oof. One of my mates has an R34 GT-R that he initially was a "I want to go twins for response and convenience" on his stock 2.6 with Kelford 272 cams, but his friends are pests and were always in his ear about their place being in the bin.   Eventually one of the 2860-5s decided to add it's own input and force his hand, so he conceded and went for a Pulsar 6262G ("G35 900") with T4 0.85 hotside.    Here's an overlay of the results, same cams, same stock bottom end, same boost, same fuel, just from a pretty tidy 2860-5 install to a Pulsar turbo on a 6boost maniifold on BP98.   Worth mentioning here, it may seem like a dead horse thing but the dyno plot doesn't tell the story of how much better it is to drive - transient response has completely changed the car, he used to have flat foot shifting to stop it having to wind up again on gear changes even at >7000rpm... now it builds boost faster than that even short shifting.   It's 100% transformed the car before you even consider how much better it holds on: Pulsar and Garrett aren't the same, but from our experience if you're just looking for a better drive and the ability to make the same or more power I think the divided G30 770 would probably be the smallest I'd go to.
    • Great work Duncan, any events local you will give it a test once all done?
    • Sweet, yeah hoping stock gears will hold up. May use the transbrake feature on hill climb starts so that will test it.
    • Yeah, the thread is only nearly 20 years old.
    • Been down in Tassie for 2 weeks (a cruise, not a race for once) but spent a little time on her when I got back. I worked out the injector settings in the PowerFC were not correct for nismo 555s, set those to 66% +10ms and added a little air at closed throttle, set the timing (approximately, because it has some weird non 15o cells around idle) and now she starts and idles properly. She purrs like a kitten (ignore the co2 alarm in the background, I did  ) 20250518_171052.mp4 Next step, off for run-in, tuning and alignment!
