Hey guys,

like it says, I've got some noisy noisy creaking coming from the front end of my car. I guess the whole suspension n axle is acting up. Just wanted to know what could be done about it...like fluid, lubricating or having some suspension guy look at it. It's just noisy when the car isn't moving...creaks when i turn the wheel, creaks when i'm going slow, creaks when I slow down to a stop.

Any ideas or ppl i can see?

thanks,

Zak

can u pinpoint if its from the front left, right, both. with a mates help u should be able to tell if its from the top of the strut or not. mine is creaking from the top on the left only. from what my mechanic says its a case of either genuine nissan or him manufacturing his own. which he has already done but its really co$tly. mine has been creaking on and off for a month. sometimes i can go all the way to brizzy and back to the sunny coast without it making a noise and other times it will creak the whole damn time. i recommend getting it checked out by atleast 3 or 4 mechanics. get one of the $14 pedders suspension safety checks. they might pick it up. in my case they didnt but they picked up a few other problems and for $14 its worth it. good luck

I would have to recommend Simon @ Street Performance Exhaust on the sunshine coast. Unit 1/40 Production Avenue Warana, Sunshine Coast. Phone: 5493 5311. He seems to know a lot about skylines. he used to own one and they are doing up a GTR at the moment. He is a little pricey though.

i get same on the left hand side at front... try to WB40 the entire strut and spirngs... I sprayed WD40 all over the strut/springs and then sprayed all over the top strut where the brace bolts onto. I think it fixed the problem for few months. Its back now, I mite do the same and report here if i remmember.

will check the guards as well... thanks for tip mate

Time to dig up an old thread, Zak, did you end up finding the problem?

I'm having similar issues with mine, especially when I slow down to a stop.

I only hear it from the front left hand corner.

I'd upgraded my sway bar to a whiteline adjustable a few weeks before the noise started, and it was about the time I changed my wheels from stock to 18".

The wheels clear the calipers by more than what the standard wheels did, so I know it's not that...

I have similar problems,

Particulary in the cold I used to have creaking coming from my all over the joint. I got under the car and sprayed all the joints and bushes and everything with lube, and tightened all the things that can loosen up with the impact gun, it seemed to work for a couple of months. Now I have only 1 creak, and that comes from the front right of the car. I'll try lubing up again, but I think the proper soloution would be to get new bushes (in my case) can anyone confirm this?

On another note I have another creak. It happens when I turn right around roundabouts, or 90degree corners in suburbia (with a little speed). The cars weight shifts to the passenger side, and the drivers side rises. When the drivers side comes back down as the car straightens up thats when I hear the creak. It seems to be coming from the where the door connects to the guard (rear gaurd - door handle end)... I have absoloutly NO idea what it is. Does anyone else have this problem, or does anyone know how to rectify it?

Had same problem months ago. All is good now. At first I thought it was the control arm bushes. Turns out it was the swaybar ones. Hope that helps somebody :P

Hmmm,

I've replaved my swaybar, and the D bushes front and back...

Perhaps I didn't grease them up properly.

At the time though, I thought i put too much grease (the white stuff that came with the swaybars).

lucky this thread came up again, i was about to post a new one.

last night on the way to work, no dramas at all. On the way back home, came up the drive way and i heard a similar creaking noise. It was coming from the RHS of the rear. I sort of had a feeling it is the suspension datz shit it self. after i parked inside the garage i pushed the car up and down, and it was making the creakin noise.

what do you usually have to change in regards to this? Could it possibly be the rear guard as stated above with the front guard?

any help appreciated

cheers

Did we get any resolution? i might just try lubricating everything as i have the same problem. It doesn't do it around corners or when stopping, it does it over bumps in the road and speed humps...

WD40??? or something else...

    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.
    • Fark the AFM card and Nistune, Haltech Nexus S3, DBW, cruise control, flex fuel, dis dat.
    • It's most likely the bolt/bush where the cover bolts back wore and allowed cover to move forward.
    • Still haven't put the injectors and R35 AFM in so we can tune the bloody thing for the HG highflow it got mid last year! I think I can forecast the upgrade path to a bigger twin scroll, external gate, Haltech, flex setup, Samsonas, dis dat, etc will be .... a while away!
    • Should have taken that opportunity to slot in a twin scroll turbo setup. Maybe next time.
