NissanSkyline
It says on the QLD transport site that high-powered and performance vehicles include those with: eight or more cylinders a turbo-charged or super-charged engine that is not diesel powered an engine that has a power output of more than 200 kW as per the manufacturer's specifications a rotary engine that has an engine capacity of more than 1146cc as per the manufacturer's specifications a modified engine that must be approved under the Transport Operations (Road Use Management – Vehicle Standards and Safety) Regulation 1999, section 30. well my R34 25GT has no more than 8 cylinders, and it is not turbo-charged, I'm just not so sure about the third and fourth points, does my vehicle meet those requirements? Does anyone know? Edited August 5, 2008 by NissanSkyline Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/231097-restrictions/ Share on other sites
RGR33
Hey mate, Your engine is not a rotary (RX7 is rotary, yours is an inline 6 i think), and manufacturers specifications are flywheel kw, which means your car would have to be 230-250kw at the wheels STOCK to be breaking this rule. I think you should be ok mate! Good luck Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/231097-restrictions/#findComment-4059174 Share on other sites
homedog56
Your car doesnt have a modification that requires approval unless the engine has been changed or converted to manual or anything along those lines Your car also isnt a rotary Your car would not produce more than 200kw at the wheels and i doubt it would even do it at the flywheel To add to this thread my mate has a non-turbo silvia with a RB20 that was converted to manual now i realise i may have answered my question but just wondering if anyone has had an experience with this and what the cops have done about it? RandomHero83
well because I just bought it, and its not registered under my name, so if I can't drive it legally, I'd be like HOLY CRAP!!! If you brought the car and are transfering the rego you have 30 days to do it before the cops can break your ballz about it. If you are waiting for the rego to expire you are better off cashing in the plates or getting the previous owner to and re-registering it in your name asap. Hope this was helpful. Revhead
Hey mate,Your engine is not a rotary (RX7 is rotary, yours is an inline 6 i think), and manufacturers specifications are flywheel kw, which means your car would have to be 230-250kw at the wheels STOCK to be breaking this rule. I think you should be ok mate! Good luck 200kW @ engine doesn't mean 230-250kW @ wheels. Find me a driveline that makes power and I'll buy it 200kW at the flywheel would be probably closer to 140-150rwkw. Col-GTSX
On top of that its an NA RB25 so it will only have about 130kw at the fly wheel... So maybe 95-100kw at the wheels... Not exactlly sporty but damn fuel efficient in compairson to a beefed up fire breathing rb25det...
