Very very very very nice! Good consistant times there, love hearing about it - it was driving me crazy that all the reports of the Jamboree I heard didn't include your times even though it appeared you were there. What tyres are you running on it these days? I know you got very fast on the drag radials but not sure at what point (if?) you went to a full slick.

congratulations to you and your team as it sounds like you were all busy. Nothing like putting in the hard yards and beeing rewarded with numbers like those. not sure if many people can appreciate whats involved in getting a car to be that fast and also consistent like you have your car running know. big well done.

Congrats on the huge effort Mark resetting the benchmark all the time will be great to see you claim the world record mate. Doing all ozzy GTR fans proud.

Haha I am in a bit of a pickle here, I love seeing these guys go quicker but between the fact I have watched Reece McGregor gradually go faster since 1998 and the fact that Heat Treatments are from NZ I feel a certain amount of compulsion to cheer them on too - so I'll keep cheering, but quietly hope the 7.57s mark doesn't get cracked until HT are racing again haha.

Lith, if the record gets bashed by Mark, that will spur the HT boys on even more. It's great when records get broken and the recordholder is still in the game.

Very true, actually. Best of both worlds!! Either way, Mark's car as clearly well up to the task of giving the HT lads a good run for their money in a race - he's gone quicker than the HKS R33 could do on Willowbank. If there is ever going to be an event with both there, I will travel to see it!

that would be nice to see side by side 7 sec passes....world first for gtr fans...

we are very happy with our progress with the car but still have a way to go the 7.5s but we now have the power on board to run 7.5 just need to tame it down of the start line and get the 60ft times down to low 1.2s ...

our next meeting is the spring top fuel event about 3 weeks i think... should be great...

cheers, mark

Best of luck for that, and yes - can see that the power is up there by the way the car wiggles around at half track... all HT's faster runs the car looks like it wants to check things out on the sides of the track, probably does near half a km on some passes haha. There are some people in the UK doing mid/low 8s who seem to think the only thing holding them back from running 7s now is adding the power - I'd love to know what its like in the car when you are getting down the strip but from the safety of the side of the track it looks like the whole run gets a lot more dicey as you start trying to push the thing down the strip in under 8s.

    • Yes to both! Yes to standard ECU and tune, but exhaust is aftermarket. Unsure on brand. Actually have it sitting in at my desk haha! I have to set it up on my laptop but this is a great next step, will do. So I generally try to shift before 4.5K RPM most times. I largely don't do a lot of high-rev driving, but I will take it up to red 1-2x a week max, as I know the occasional "Italian tune-up" is good for these cars.  Oh wow, is this way better than what I'm getting. Does this mean there's a good chance I have an issue?   Thanks for all the info so far guys.
    • Old Son, did you re-use the Holden ABS in the new shell or try a different module?
    • Yeah, nah. I had the actuator rod off it today. The arm will not move at all. Neither out, nor in. Yeah, you'd think so, but I've been thinking about that. Even when the actuator rod fell all the way off at the beginning of this saga, it would build more boost and faster in lower gears than it would in higher gears, and you'd think that that was the opposite of what should happen. But I strongly suspect that there is a thing with the gearing getting the revs to rise faster, that there must be some transient effect with the gas flow rate rising quickly, that you don't get with the more steady state case of the higher gears. Keep in mind - the gate is not shut in either of my weirdnesses. So things are not "normal". We normally think about a turbo spooling up (below the wastegate target) with the gate shut. I have all sorts of mental models running now where the gate is a little bit open, and having it stuck open allowing gas out while it should be going through the turbine has all sorts of weird effects (in these mental models). I'm thinking in the higher gears, the ex mani pressure builds to the point where enough gases spill out the wastegate to just prevent the pressure rising much more at all, or just creeping up, all the whole the revs are increasing and getting closer to the point where a gear shift becomes necessary.
    • Is it possibly wastegate actuator itself is sticking, or even the rod to flapper? Otherwise I reckon things are getting a bit rusty/worn   Also odd it won't boost in 3rd to 5th, but will in 1st, I'd expect the other way around with it slightly open as there's more time on your way to redline for it to spin up
    • Does anyone know ow what these two plugs are for and if they should be unplugged? Just put the dash back together and can't remember if these were plugged in before or unplugged! (Blue and white plugs) 🤦🏽‍♂️
