Hi guys,

I've been slowly buying parts to upgrade my car

I've got turbo (HKS GT2535), intercooler (Cooling Pro Stealth Series for R34), front pipe (JJR Bellmouth)

Is a cat from a R33/R34 bolt straight on? I'm looking at a magnaflow 3inch cat that has been flanged already and want to that it will bolt straight on

I'm going to custom the cat back (don't want a cannon tip and can't find what I want around)

the last bit is the suspension - this is proving to be a nightmare...I don't know that the group buy is still going...if it's not going - that what options should I go for (don't want coilovers - too much hassles and I have read the suspension thread and made even more confused :D )

Yes, 34 and 33 cats use same flange pattern, bolt on.

Have you considered one of these ? Mine came with the flanges, bolted straight on, very happy with it.

I fitted a JJ Bellmouth and Hi Flow X Force Cat. Fitted perfectly on my S1, with a 3" Cat back, as supplied

Increase in power most noticeable and saving about 2l/100 in fuel.

yeah I would love to get a metalcat but there are none around and I have spoken to some exhaust places around my place there is a massive back order for these...they recommended me to go mangaflow (that's my second choice) or to wait (which I can't)

If I can find a metalcat that I can get straight away then i'll buy one

just get the x force metal cat. cheap and good. be sure to get the high flow one its worth it.

Thats the one I got from JJ. Also put in a new O2 sensor at the same time.

I just came op the mountain and the difference with the X Force and bellmouth is amazing.

Before it was like 3 grand plus and 4-5 psi to keep at 60kph, now it comes up at 2and a bit with no boost, so in effect the S1 now comes up in D and not 2nd, hence the better fuel consumption.

Also fitted a hi flow panel filter caus I have a cold air deflector.

I have had a HKS 2535 on an R33 and I tried 3 different exhaust combinations and let me tell you the 2535 is a great punchy turbo but it really needs to breath!!!

If you can gut the cat and you will never look back, it really does make a massive difference.

It also makes your rear bar turn black from the carbon deposits your exhaust puts out too. But who cares when you've got a Stagea that blows flames? :/

Well I got a magnaflow cat. got it for $280. Now just gotta go to the exhaust place and get the cat-back made up. Xmetal - the reason I didn't get a X-Force 5 of my friends had their one collapse on them after 6 months.

I'm going to go custom as I don't like cannon exhasuts (personal choice) and can't find a aftermarket dual tip exhaust (or maybe I haven't looked hard enough).

I was thinking to go for a de-cat...but i guess i want to go for a sleeper look

    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
    • I don't understand how this hasn't boiled down to - Upgrade the turbo when you have everything required. ECU, injectors, fuel pump, turbo, etc. Do it all at once.  If you don't have everything required, just enjoy the car as it is and keep saving up your pennies.
