*****need Help Finding Someone To Install N1 Turbo's At A Good Price Please Help Me******

Recommended Posts

Hi all as the topic sais i am getting N1 Turbos for my R32 and got a quote for $800 to Install them and another $250 to tune the car but i did not know that N1's would cost so much to install as they are direct bolt on.

If anyone knows a Good Tuner to go to that installs cheap can you please let me know asap as i need this done soon and i am located in the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne so Dandenong, Morrabin, Cheltenham etc.

I would do this my self but i am in the Process of Spraying the car so i don't have the time and effort to install them i want to spray it and drop it off so any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks.

Yeah installing turbos ain't that cheap. Can't remember how much i paid. It was less than $800 i'm sure but not that much cheaper. maybe $600 + gaskets.

$800? Your lucky it wasnt $1000 to be honest. $800 is cheap

Just because they are bolt on, does not mean its a 30 second job.

You have to take the intake setup off... front pipes off, then the rear dump, rear turbo, front dump, front turbo

And then reassemble in the order you took it all off and fix up anything that might be a miss in the process (gaskets, damaged vac hoses, poor condition hoses in the area while its apart etc etc)

So simply put, not a simple or fast job by any means.

You should try and do it yourself IMO, and then you'd see that $800 is more than reasonable for such a pr|ck of a job :P

$250 to tune also sounds too cheap IMO.

250 is what i got it dyno'd for the first time from this guy he just started off but he is very good all his equipment is new so its good and he knows what he was talking about.

I need to know other tuners in my area not if im paying to much or if anyone thinks 800 is a good price just need some numbers of shops or advice from people who have actually had N1's installed ?

when he says i think he just means a check to make sure the turbochargers are working and everything is ok

so basicvally just a health check once the turbochargers are fitted

this assumes you have the standard ecu?

or does he mean a touch up of your aftermarket ecu?

NA i have a power FC he tuned it for me for 250 last time but the turbos im buying are getting built atm i just need to know if anyone has done this upgraded to N1 and how much it cost them and what else they had to do to their car i want to get cam gears all i have is:

Power Fc

Cat Back

And i had a rebuild a while back now im maxing out my turbos and they dont have much life left so i want to upgrade before they blow up and cause more problems later on .

Mate have you read half the posts?

$800 - IS CHEAP AND REASONABLE from people who've PAID to have it done or know people/workshop pricing etc.

Why are you still asking about them... i dont get it. $800 is fair, pay the price.

im not happy with 800 i dont care i will pay 800 i wanted to know how much they payed to get an idea of how much it costs i know im getting a good price i just need to know what else i need to do im waiting for people to reply who own GTRs but thanx anyway mate

to be honest even i would not charge less than 800.... even then there is no way im gonna tune it for 250..... id probaly qoute $1200 (with PFC tune) drive in drive out.... my tuning alone is worth $550 and up on a setup like that especially considering i have more work than time.... all work is done on probably the best dyno in Vic.

best dyno in vic? thats a pretty big statement well maybe ill give you a try send your details and to me and ill come down?

Yeah $250 for a PFC tune is too cheap, they arent doing a full tune.

Your talking $600+ for that

If your not happy with $800 for a full turbo swap out... then you shouldn't own a GTR.

Turbo swaps are the least of your worries :)

^ No its not. Its time, patience and a 1/4 drive socket set.

Mate Ash has summed it perfectly, so dont just 'thanks mate' and disregard his posts.

He knows plenty more than most on here who actually own GTRs. One of them is you.

800+ is the going rate. Thats it.

Doing the turbos on the car isnt that hard if u have the right tools, i ve done a few of these only take 6-8 hours to complete (with air tools )

800 is to cheap i wouldnt do it at my workshop for that cheap, and yes i own a gtr lol

im not disregarding no ones comments im open to hear suggestions i hate opening a thread on these forums because i ask for one thing or friendly advice and all i get is people coming on who have to add their smart ass comments i didnt ask for peoples opinions i asked for peoples help and thank you for the people who gave me help im happy with 800 i think 800 is cheap and i will pay 800 i just asked what others payed and they told me so thank you for all your help

Bel Garage charged me $500 a couple of months ago for the same job.

oh ok no shit? thanx man where abouts is that is it in Melbourne?

    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
    • My experience with Rising Sun Exports Before agreeing to the sale I tried to do as much research as I could (obviously), his Facebook reviews are 98% and he goes Live at least once or twice a week. I contacted 2 people in the UK who had used him for their imports, both had positive feedback. His explanation and talk through of the import process was thorough, answering any query no matter how stupid it was. It felt as soon as the money was sent, communication dropped off. I asked for shipping updates every 2 weeks or so, not wanting to pester him, he never had any updates. I wasn't informed the car had been dropped off at the port, I only found out by his Facebook story. I asked for the photos taken at the port, knowing he would need some for insurance purposes. I received a few 5 second clips and that's it. When asked again, he said his staff had them. Weeks later I asked again, he tells me he doesn't have any, but does have 50 photos from the original advert. I never received them. I eventually got the documents sent via WhatsApp after I mentioned the port was requesting them. I purchased a CarVX report, to find out the vehicle is a Grade R with recorded accident damage, first recorded in 2017 when it was first auctioned. He never told me the grade, then again I didn't ask. His response was "Grade R means nothing, it wasn't chassis damage". Still, I would have liked to have been informed about it. Jon prides himself on being open and honest when it comes to inspecting cars, it's his main job doing so at the auctions for customers. When the vehicle arrived in the UK I noticed a few little cosmetic issues. It's a 21 year old car so it wasn't going to be mint condition. The side skirts are cracked on each corner and the sealant is failing. The front grill on the bonnet/hood isn't secured very well, mounting studs are missing. Both minor things, but again, it would have been nice to be told. During a Facebook Live walk around video of the vehicle, he mentioned it has a front Whiteline anti roll bar/sway bar. While on the inspection ramp, I noticed the stock item has been installed. When first questioned, his response was "the ARB? Switched? Since when, it never had them". Since sending video and photo evidence I've not received a response. I'm probably being over critical of the overall condition of an old car, but all I wanted was honesty (which he claims to have). I'm aware I wasn't his only customer, he's busy doing XYZ but other reviews praise him for great communication with regular updates and photos, I felt I didn't receive the same treatment.
