+1 on the TEIN HR's

harsh as... but i like my car to corner like a house fly

haha good way of sayin it! and i totally agree

being too stiff will actually slo you down in the hills perfect for the most very flat race track but who takes there car on the ultimate flat track

lol doesn't slow my car down.

How do you know that it's faster? What feels fast and what is fast can be two different things.

And have you been in a car with truely good suspension? Instead of Teins that have not been manufactured for around the past 5 years.

im running cusco zero-2R. http://cusco.co.jp/en/parts_product/produc...ro2r_cusco.html

You have a fair bit of adjustbility in them eg height and damper, you can also get the in cabin damper adjustment if u want.

I paid under 2k for them brand new del.

my suspension is harsh and i kept distroy and jenkies in sight most of the way throught the hills being both 4wd aswell... Mind you i hit the hills fairly often so i think i might be used to it. Does get sketchy when your pinning 3rd gear and the rear comes off the ground.

I have Zeal, perfect for the street and the bumpy roads in the hills, little to soft for the track though, but these are the only ones i have used so i have nothing to compare them with.

My TEIN HA's are brilliant on a flat surface and stick better than glue when cornering.

Problem I have with very stiff suspension is that a slight bump will get your wheels off the ground then goodbye traction.

My preferred setup is to soften the suspension up a tad and focus on better sway bars.......I've got 30mm ARC on the front & 28mm ARC on the rear so I can afford to go under 8kg spring rate.

EDIT: and the reason I really like the Bilsteins is if you compare their German made valve bodies to Jap stuff, it's about double the size with good damping both on the up and down.

ISC N1's here. Bit stiff but i don't mind it, you get used to it after a while.

But serious,

ISC

Zeal

Tein

Bilstein

Ohlins

Cusco

D2

HKS

Apexi

JIC

KYB

G4

GAB

Kei-Office

take your pick! It depends what you want it for. A bit of street and a bit of track, you might go for a slightly stiffer option, ISC would be pretty good if you only wanted to spend around 1500, then if you want to spend about 2k> you have Bilstein, Ohlins, HKS etc.

Seriously...look at the Group Buy, its really not that expensive for Bilsteins+Whiteline combo...off the top of my head, all you need right now are shocks+springs+bumpstops (571+154+56)*2 = 1562 - 5% discount = $1483.90!

1500 for a combo that is firm and supple...but then of course thats ideal for street.

If I we're to take my car to do some motorsports, I'd just get stiffer sway bars. Otherwise I think they feel great!

FYI: I moved from dead stock shocks to Koni's to Bilsteins and I'm happiest with my car now :(

i used to have tanabe pro coil-overs, they were way too solid for these roads.

+1 for tanabe being too stiff. Have them on my 34 atm and they are way too jolty for the hills or even just normal daily driving. You get used to it though.

this is some real good info for when i am going to be getting my coil overs

i was looking at the ISC and most people that i have spoken to have got them and are pretty happy with it

trust coilovers are slightly hard to find but have heard of only good things about them

Hey Hugh, is that price of $1438.90 for a set of Bilsteins from Sydney Kid, because he quoted me between $2200 & $2500 for a set for a GTR.

Also if you check alot of the feedback on his Group Buy, some folk have been waiting for months and are still waiting.....some have even threatened him with legal action because they paid weeks ago and have sent him countless messages with no reply, he's finally put a message on the threads but still can't give an indication of when exactly.............it's all still there check it out.

I chose to source them myself in the end and I thought $2200 was very cheap.

I had Tein HA's in my car and found them too harsh, even through the hills i preferred my friends skyline as it was a softer ride with non adj KYB shocks and springs cause adelaides roads are pretty shocking. So im going for the SK group buy now :(

But if your dead set on getting some adj coilovers id go zeal or bilstein but ive heard they dont make them for 32's?? not 100% sure on that tho

Mine set me back $1200 as I already had the Whiteline springs and it took 3 weeks from date of order, but this was back in March. Not sure how it is now though. It all depends if you are ordering stuff he has in stock and wether it was allocated to you. Mine was in stock at the time.

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
