Dunno man, both Justcar and Shannons made sure I had an Aus alarm. There was one fitted when I bought the car but it was utter shite so I got Adelaide Pro Sound to wire me up a new one. Been awesome ever since (and the turbotimer/remote turnoff feature is uber)

hey so last night i went and saw the car i was debating wether to or not due to my massive attachment to it and didnt know if id be an emotinal wreck... but i went and saw it so it didnt get to this "carport" till just after 6 pm last night apparently it was getting chased after all night. they jacked the car up and took the mags and then set the interior on fire. the motor looks fine and so does the shell to my surprise i was expecting the whole thing to be burnt to a crisp!! they had ripped off the for sale stickers and left all their munchy wrappers all in the car. the fireys came to put it out and its been fingerprinted still hard to get my head around but hey. thanks rhys for your comments its totally devastating to have this happen.

Alarm has to be Australian Standard aswell - they'll check by taking a squiz at the alarm remote and can tell from that!
just on a diffrent note how can u find out if your current alarm is aust approved ? you may have brought a car with a alarm in it all ready . you would not know if its approved or not .

Was going to ask the same question!!

all my remote has written on it is tonkins i cant find out what model it is as i cant find where they hid the bloody thing lol exept for the siren under the hood . all i know is it goes off pretty easy and is as loud as hell .

I'm with Just Cars, and they said the Viper alarm is fine, even though it's not Australian Standard.

Did they verbally say that, or put it in writing?

Verbal dont mean jack, even if you were to write it down, date+time stamp it, and have a witness with you.

Any easy way to get something in writing, is to email it to them. Make sure their email has their full name+position on it too.

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
