entries for Lakeside Sprints Rd3 this Sunday are closed with 65 entries accepted. There is 1 remaining round before the track is closed down for resurfacing and upgrades on October 19. Get your entries in now if you want to make sure you get in!

Last chance to run the original circuit - they are planning on changing the cambers in the corners as part of the refurb, so if you want to experience the real Lakeside, its now or never! Its the fastest average speed track in the country with some very technical and challenging corners.

if they haven't called you, you're in  Had a couple of mates who tried to enter and got calls saying it was full. I'll be there this weekend. New tyres are on, and feel pretty good so far, and its in at LEDA Suspension for a proper alignment today :(

I faxed my entry in for the last remaining round on Oct 19 this afternoon. got a couple of other changes I want to make before that round...

October 19 is a QR run thing? If so, I'll get onto it as well. I wasn't aware there was another one after this weekend, would have got myself organised to do some suspension tuning. Didn't think there was much use doing it before it closed, nothing to compare against  doh.

Edit: Just spotted it on the QR website and faxed the entry :( Will actually be a sad day I reckon, love the track just how it is.....

That too? hmmmm, I'm not going to talk the changes down, they could be good, JT said he wants to keep the allure of the place and not have another QR. But I guess in this day and age they do need to try and make it safer.

I'm a little depressed this morning.... car's not even half way done and I don't even know when I'll get a chance to wheel align it!

I should be out there again boys all going well, entry was sent yesterday!

I've turned the wick up a bit on the Evo so hopefully she'll crack a 57. See ya's Sunday :bunny:

BTW here is some of my in car footage from the last round at Lakeside. This was early in the day & I was scrubbing in new tyres, later in the day I was hitting 5th gear from well before the right handerbefore the bridge which was a real rush!!

if you sent the entry yesterday for this Sunday, I'd give them a call to check you got in. I know 2 people who tried to enter yesterday who were told entries were full. Hope you did though - crazy fast car! There's a very rapid Suzuki Swift coming on the weekend that should be some good competition for you!

I missed racing but went out and had a gander in the morning. Good variety of cars, and Steve took my place in his 34 GTR. :D Hope you enjoyed it mate!

Chrisso went a little deep under brakes into the Carossell in the XT GT .... he promises it wasn't because I was standing there watching! At least he managed to turn it sideways for the wall contact rather than going nose in....... a little persuasive hammer work and it was out circulating an hour or so later :(

that's a pretty heavy hit to do that to a solid old Falcon! good to see it back out on the track later though.

I got a new PB by 1.4sec thanks to the new tyres, so I'm very happy. Ran a best of 62.16. Far too hot for really good times though. I think there's probably still half a second to find from the car the way it is. I think the only car that was faster was the SIV or V RX7 turbo on michelin porsche sup slicks (60.9) which really aren't allowed (road legal tyres are supposed to be required) so I'm claiming a moral victory* :D Thankfully there were no actual fast car/driver combos there!

*of course this might change when the full results come out!

Great stuff Harry! I watched you from both the Carrossell and under Dunlop, car was looking very settled and fast :D

lol.... there was some pretty ordinary displays of driving too as usual, I don't know how there isn't more accidents to be honest. Watching for a couple of hours was a real eye opener!

How the XT didn't go over I don't know..... she'll be back soon :)

well, it did change when the full results came out! http://www.qldraceways.com.au/lakeside_spr...ints_points.mht

Quinny beat me in his caged Sierra RS500 with a 61.45, and one of those damn GTR shitboxes pipped me as well! lol Jeremy Norris in a white R33 with a 61.47. Did nice flameouts into Hungry too!

They've moved the date for next round forward too. Its now Sat Oct 11 - that's Bathurst weekend, but I'll definitely be there! Just got to work out how to go faster!!!

how to go faster is sorted - they're letting me run the Datto! :P

Showed them the old Zoom feature on it when it used to be registered and the SAE Engineer reports approving all the mods for road use, and promised it would be as quiet as the Supra I have been running. So we're all set. I haven't been this excited about a track day in... I dunno... ever! also a bit scared about what it might be like under the bridge - the Supra is fast enough to be scarey there in the fast bumpy RH sweeper... the Datsun with more speed, leaf spring rear end and slow ratio steering is a very different prospect! but I can't wait!

    • Well, the trouble with that ^^ is: The configuration shown is absolutely a 1-way, not a 1.5-way. There is no way that a 1.5-way can be said to offer LSD action only on acceleration. If Nismo cannot get that right, then it is impossible to believe their documentation. That ^ is not a 1.5 way setup. That is a 1-way.   And so now I have allowed all doubts to flourish and have gone back to look at the MotoIQ video. I originally made the mistake of believing him when he said "this is a 1.5-way" at the ~6:10 mark. Because what he did was take the gear assembly out of the 2-way opening and just rotate it one place to the left to drop it into the 1-way opening. When he dropped it in there, the cam was "backwards" compared to the correct orientation shown in all other photos of that config. The flat shold have been facing the 1° ramp side of the opening, not the 55° ramp side. And I thought, "gee that's cute", but I was concerned at the time, when he put the other ring back on, that the gap between the rings looked like it was wider then in the 2-way config. And then I said a lot of things in my long post on Tuesday that could only make sense if the guy from MotoIQ was correct about what he'd done. BUT... I have now done my homework. I grabbed a frame of the video with the 2-way config, and then grabbed another with the "1.5-way" config, snipped out the cam and opening of that frame and just pasted it direct on top of the 2-way config. I scaled it so that the triangular opening was almost exactly the same height in both. AND.... the gap between the plates is wider with the cam installed in the triangualr opening backwards. That is.... it cannot go together that way. There would be massive force on the plates all the time, if you could even reassemble it.  So, My statement on the matter? The Nismo diff is actually only a 2-way and 1-way. There is no 1.5-way option in it, regardless of what they say. Here's a photo of a real 1.5-way ramp opening from Cusco (along with the 1 way option). And the full set of 1 through 2 way options from their racing diff, which is not same-same as what we'd typically be using, but...the cams work the same. A little blurry, but it comes from this Cusco doc, which is quite helpful. AND.... Cusco do in fact do what I suggested would be sensible, which is to have rings that do 1 and 1.5, and 1.5 and 2. Separately.
    • Welcome Adam. Car looks great!
    • "With a 1.5-WAY, the LSD is effective only during acceleration."
    • Well it wasn't as easy as I thought.... and it also wasn't in my original manual which I did end up finding. They discuss the process in the Nismo catalogue though and it requires slight machining. Page 145.  NISMO PARTS CATALOGUE 2020
    • I'm an idiot, my intercooler is rated for 1000hp. I had clicked on the wrong product. Knowing the delta P would be nice, but I'm doubtful I'll do it. Now as for an EMAP, that would be great and I'll get around to it eventually but from my findings in my last post, I'm considering a turbo swap now.
