Hello,

Since I've owned my GTR the 4WD system has never worked.

I only recently checked the fault code reported by the ATTESSA computer, and it read:

19 - ETS motor, motor relay or circuit.

I'm still quite concerned that I never get a 4WD light on the dash.. I'm also assuming that these bulbs don't just die very easily on their own either ..? ;)

Anyone here ever had an incident with this fault code? Sounds like it's just some shitty wiring somewhere perhaps?

Globes die. You should get it lighting up just before you start the engine. If not then either it's dead, or, worse, someone removed the bulb to hide the fault.

Yeah dude, I've never seen the 4WD light before, no matter what position the key is in.

Judging by who sold it to me I would not be suprised if this was removed to hide the fault.

Could this fault code 19 be something more severe? Or is it usually spot on?

Appreciate your response by the way.

Well obviously you have something wrong with the pump, relay or circuit...

When you turn the IGN on, does the ATESSA pump run? Its like the fuel pump but runs for much longer on first start until it builds pressure.

If it doesnt, then check the fuse in the engine bay. If thats ok check that the relay in the boot is clicking when it should. I think its the LHS one under the back boot lining.

To help, look near or underneath the d/s kick panel for a small white single wire plug. When the IGN is on and that is unplugged, that will make the pump run continuously.

Check power to relay, check power to the pump. If theres power to the pump wires, the pump is gone.

Search up the net, you should be able to find a pdf of the GTR service manual, it has ATESSA troubleshooting guides.

Thank you very much Femno - Rowdyr32 has noted that he cannot hear the 4WD pump at all when you should hear it, the fuses are all good - I will test the other things you have noted.

If someone is available to assist me this weekend (as I'm new to most of this, ie. pretty usless) I can pay you for your time.

Cheers!

Hmmmm, I heard no relays clicking... I guess I will need to take it to the mechanic to check out. The rear diff is coming out anyway, so they can probably check the ATTESSA pump at the same time.

While I was in the boot (lol) I saw this, could someone kindly tell me what it is? It looks like a placer for a fuse? Except there's nothing in there and it was open as seen here:

Thanks again!

Thats for the boot light. Place a globe in there. Usually on most cars, because of their age the boot light switch on the latch fails and the light can stay on even when boot is closed. Hey presto dead battery. Thats probably why it's not installed.

Cheers

Ha ha ha I have my fingers crossed the pinion seals don't start leaking on the diffs, that the transfer case doesn't leak, and the gearbox input shaft doesn't leak, nor the rear main seal.
