Geoff and the guys from BSM (driven by Lofty who is on here from time to time), are having a proper run in sports sedans at the NSW state champs this weekend.

bsm_gtr.jpg

These guys have won the NSW production cars, NSW and Oz Improved Produciton titles in their 32 GTRs, and it looks like they have now got the car up to spec as a competitive sports sedan, running on proper slicks etc.

Qualifying is over, they came home 4th with 1.40 flat (damn quick) behind 2x 6l spaceframe chevs and a turbo 20b rx7.

Race 1 is this afternoon, and R2 and R3 are out tomorrow - if you want to see australia's fastest GTR competing this is a great opportunity!

Good luck guys!

What sort of restrictors etc is the thing forced to run in SS regs? I imagine the little 2.6L with twin turbz, restrictors and all that weight is having a harding time in Sports Sedans. Top effort by the guys, will maybe sneal down there in the morning for a squizz as will be driving by on te way to see family

hi

we ran all friday with few problems low 1:38s the second lap of qual gearbox exploded again. 1:40 on first flying lap. took the car home to rebuild gearbox but all our spare gearboxs have the same parts broken. we are out again!!!! any one got a holinger for sale?

the data in the car says it will run in the 36s with new tyres. 278kph down the straight is hauling!!!!!

sorry guys we wont be there sunday

38 down to 36 is farking quick! well done. If you can get a gtr to the front of IPRA I reckon you are a good chance of getting to the front of sports sedans too with a bit more time and money.

not surprised you are having gearbox problems with the new setup, you have os giken or ppg gearset now? I've got no idea what the other sports sedans run (hollinger? hewland?) but they are making 550+rwkw so there must be something out there that can take the power. Not sure if you've made it to a race standing start against the rest of those cars but you will kill them....even my production car overtook 4 sports sedans before turn 1 when we had a combined grid earlier this year....

and yeah that pic is a shocker but its the most recent one I can find.....I'm sure dave has better ones somewhere

ben...no actual radicals in that field but there are some similar ones including dennis' minetti. which dnf'ed again as well

and once again a commodore won touring cars....I really need to get my car out there next year :(

38's is friggin impressive.

Duncan most of those rotors are making in excess of 500Kw and using holingers.

Mark's gemini which has not competed for a year or so now had over 500 and was still breaking them when the car was retired.

The production car guys are getting quicker Duncan. Actually so are the combined touring runners. Well into the 48's now for the leaders.

The fastest SS Ive seen at EC is the Audi of Daren Hossack.

6.0ltr chev, indy car rear end, spaceframe, F1 style suspension, etc.

1.28.6

I wonder what GTR running gear in the chassis will do..

unfortunately we will never know....the 3D regs are quite clear for a 4wd car - they need to comply to the "floorpan chassis" rules which means standard body (no spaceframe and fibregalss/carbon fibre shell) and standard block and head.

that hossack car is amazing and is taking outright sedan records everywhere it races.

still....I think Geoff and the boys will have a good shot at NSW sports sedan once the car is sorted. If they can win improved production they can win sports sedans.

thanks duncan

we are working on a few reliability issues at the moment,( gearbox, front diff and drive shafts.) but i think the car can be fast!!!

top job on your car hope you can come out and play s/sedans with us.

I havent read the reg's on 4wd in SS.

Can you change the suspension geometry?

Relocate the engine?

What is the minimum weight?

Can you widen the car 100mm as the the other car's do?

Good luck in any case.

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
