What about jailbroken iPhones? I suppose this could mean we have a lot more access to the phone than what apple gives us.

thats only a small subset of all possible users, if you can then use other bluetooth devices on a jailbroken phone. but better to focus efforts on android which (i havent checked, but guessing) is less restrictive, and look to be taking over iphone in terms of sales etc.
