He's clutches seem great from what I have read, but first hand experience was the opposite. We got one made up from my friends XR6T with 400~hp and it melted away after 1000km if that, wasnt overly impressed.

I would be shocked if Jim didn't handle the situation more than appropriately.

In relation to the original question, absolutely any competent mechanic can do the job. It's not re-inventing the (fly)wheel or anything.

It's about as basic a clutch install as you will ever find.

The first 1000km's of a clutch should be bedded-in and not thrashed, under normal driving it wouldn't melt away.

One would think.

*so when i first get my clutch i shouldnt thrash it? eg: similar to engine 1000ks run in??

hmmm... I was planning to fit the clutch and then go tune the car. (my clutch is slipping) any other reccomendation?

will give a few place a call.

Jim reccomends a few workshops might give them a call too.

thanks!

Yeah, 4-500kms to bed them in normal driving.

My first Xtreme DCB clutch lasted 55,000kms (6years) of pure ABUSE before ending its life. That included not bedding it in (I was young and stupid)

P.s. I'd take it to Auto Clutch in ossie park (he specializes in clutch's)

I bedded my Jim Berry clutch in during the first burnout of a race meeting at WSID. It lasted more than two years of hard core abuse and racing and is still going strong (for the last could of years at least) in a drift car and it HADN'T been rebuilt.

Bugger running them in. Just don't slip them.
