hey all, im new to this site n also to the 35, i recently purchased a 2002 300gt sedan 35 from a local caryard,it was going great up untill the last 4wks,in the last 4wks heaps of things have gone wrong, and the list goes like this

1.there is an airbag light that keeps flashing on the dash and will not go away

2.the window motor went and i got hit with 760 to replace it,i paid it and now the drivers window button doesn't work but the rest of the buttons do work,so now im chasing a new switch or the whole panel that goes into the door if anyone can help???

3.the cd player was working fine untill one day it just stopped working,it gave me the shits cause it still has 6 cds in it,so i wasnt getting around without tunes i just plugged in the old school walkman n plugged it in through the tape deck, it worked sweet for about a week n now the whole thing has stopped working completely,so now i have no tunes and no buttons work at all,got any ideas???

4.and last but not least the climate control is stuck on 28degrees,u cant turn it off or on,it wont allow you to adjust it nothing,so pretty much everything in the middle of the dash has shit its self,no buttons at all seem to work besides the tv n dvd player,u pop up the tv n it has the usual screen on it,so im assuming it must be still all good!!!

has anyone else experienced these problems??? if so please help :) after the bill i got from the auto elec for the window motor i thought it would be in my best interest to see if anyone else has experienced these problems and try and fix them myself before i take it to an elec

thanks luke

Ouch Dude....

All can be fixed but Jeez you got bad luck.

If your in QLD take it to Chris, It won't be free but it will be fixed right. Just a quick question. Did all of the stuff stop working immediately after you went to the auto sparky? And if so...... you know where I'm headed......

Hope you sort it out mate.

yeah im in brissie!! nah the tunes went first then the window motor went so i cant really put it back on to him, though id like to lol how do i get a hold of chris??? do u no where abouts he is at all

cheers

could be a few things there. quick check with a scanner will tell me.

motor is common. question is - motor or switch originally? both are fixable - switch isn't that bad and there is a good chance I can fix it.

considering that ENTIRE front panel controls the radio and AC there is something amiss. the 6CD stuck in the mech is common. not a cheap fix but common. I'll have a look at it and at the very least get tunes.

TV is a separate assembly. that entire unit can be removed with no real effect on the radio.

who did the car come from (tell me when you ring.)

you north or south?

give me a ring and I'll sort this car for you.

for anyone that has this happen:

IE the ENTIRE FRONT PANEL DIES. the AC system is partly powered by the radio . there is a 5v supply that feeds off the radio into the front panel to fire it up. no supply -= no go on radio and AC controls. there are 6 different supplies in this radio 3 of which feed that front panel.

I had another one today so I stripped it, debugged and fixed it.

I just had this happen to me in the last week or so, the guy I spoke to guessed at a few days work and maybe $300-400. It seems a bit over the top to me. Is this reasonable? I am in Sydney if it helps.

depends whos doing it. its an electronics issue NOT an electrical one.

I don't mind who does it, as long as it is done well for a reasonable price, I just have no idea what reasonable is! Is it in the ballpark of what you have charged recently for similar problems?

last one I did was $250 which was the R&R of th dash and unit. the entire exercise is 4hrs min. inc fixing the electronics probelm. by rights I should have charged a bit more as I had to drive out/back to where the car was in southern brisbane.

    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
