Haysey
Having being lent a 350z for a long period of time i must say they are a great car... Great handling Great Brakes... Engine is beautiful I drove it to melbourne in one hit just stopping for a piss and refuel great driving position for its weight it handles and moves well awesome shift, no need for short shifter this one gets tracked alot and can handle it.. great car for the track, thrash day in and day out Chicks like them they get ALOT of looks and comments all positive from people.... which still suprises me! downsides not quick enough for me, would definately need forced induction the 2 seats really pissed me off, i had to get my S4 everytime i had another person not much room for sexytime, would have to settle with bjs cant recline seats and sleep in it lol not hugely keen on the orange lighting but ive seen worse i like traction a bit too much sometimes, and the Z struggles in the wet Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/238993-r34-gtt-or-350z/page/2/#findComment-4179080 Share on other sites
Granthem
no i didnt lol, i dont know where the 287 came from, am i correct at it being around 230+- Earlier models came it with the typical 206kw. Now this has been raised up to 221kw in the later models Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/238993-r34-gtt-or-350z/page/2/#findComment-4179273 Share on other sites

Howie
As above... ^^ That's what I was thinking. Having driven both, i'm equally impressed by the build quality of the 350z. Although the leather in the track model leaves a little to be desired as most of the 350's i've seen shows signs of premature wearing. Off the line the 350z feels great, but a modified 34gtt will easily take it. Still if I had a choice between the two i'd take the 350Z. But if you're comparing a R34 GTR to a 350z that'd be a totally different story. Coolduck_69
Hi all, thanks for all your input, ur time to reply back has been all worth it, I appreciate all the feedback you all are giving me, please keep it up. Some questions that you people ask, here are some response to them: - I want to use it as a everyday car more or less, but definitely take it out on the w/e to show off. (Not in a hoon way, btw) - Not really into modds, stock is good, but i guess that will change once i have the car. - Not into GTR, as I dont know wat i would do with the extra power and up spec. - The other issue is the age difference im thinking about, one starts at 98 make and the other is 03, r34 are old im worried about wear and tear aspect. - And yes Im aware that I will be payin abit more for a 350z.. Please keep up with the feedback as this will help me in my searchin for my dream car. Coolduck_69
not much room for sexytime, would have to settle with bjscant recline seats and sleep in it lol LOL and yes indeed sexytime is important to some people, lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/238993-r34-gtt-or-350z/page/2/#findComment-4180233 Share on other sites
ZXY
its abit of a price difference, ive driven both and they both completely different, r34 is way more practical, and at the moment i see the 350z as a midlife crisis car and abit of a chicks car, look around and most people driving them are midlife crises people and older women..... not to say the 350z isnt an awesome car.... but most people expect to see a stereotype in them (well me anyway). An r34 has character, 350z looks like a girls skyline lol. Also r34 is cheaper, more parts available, if you need to carry more than 2 people it will do it easy and an r34 will loose allot less value than a 350z will....if i had the money i'd go the new GTR and for the same price as a 350z i'd go a gtr R34 hands down, no questions asked eeks..1'm 23 and dont fit into the category of old woman or midlife crisis >< Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/238993-r34-gtt-or-350z/page/2/#findComment-4180410 Share on other sites
Kujotk
relax its a sterotype lol and i'm not saying the 350 isnt a great car (which it is) im just saying the skyline is better lol If they were same price i'd choose a 350z and throw a turbo in it somehow lol..... but they not the same price and an r34 is already turbo lol and coolduck, what good is a dream car if its not a gtr???? a gtr has more than just extra power, also it is basically classified as a supercar, doesn't that sound more like a dream car????? god i wish i could get the new gtr when it arrives next year, then my life would be complete and i wouldnt care if i died of a heart attack the next day.... also coolduck have you just tried driving a few of them???? take them for test drives, i know you can rent a 350 from allot of places, not sure if you can rent a line, see which one suits you better. then i'm sure you will have your answer, thats what i did and i chose my r33 gtst series 2 over a silvia s15 spec r.... Haysey
I would go the 350 for everyday usage gets less police attention more positive feedback from general public not a bad rep its non turbo, so you wont put small things on here and there to make it quicker, making it fast would cost a mint hence your saving cesh id go the newer car for sure, less to replace and they are locally delivered so you can chase most of the serv history but in the end its your car drive both see what you think you have to live with the decision Hi all, thanks for all your input, ur time to reply back has been all worth it, I appreciate all the feedback you all are giving me, please keep it up. EKSMUD
as much as i love Skyline, but to compare a 10+ years old car to the newest? simple choice.... Yo-Yo
Maybe I could shed light on the subject as I've recently sold both of these cars. If you have any worries with the wear and tear of R34's you just need to find a decent one with all the tell tale signs it's been looked after. It took me 5 months before finding an r34 that I was happy with. My 350z was my daily driver, it was a 2006 spec with xenons and led tail lights 221kw fast for putting around and the engine loved mid range driving through town, effortless on the highway and felt stable all around. Doesn't seem as 'fast' when I drove the R34 even though they were fairly close in acceleration to each other. This lends to the superior chassis rigidity and build quality. Cabin is a bit cramped, and I'm only 5"7 lol but not bad. The massive strut tower in the back really gets in the way when you want to put bulky items in the boot. Looks are subjective but the 350z stock standard is a thing of beauty to me. My r34 was a '98 GT-t. Factory Sunroof, Bilsteins, Nismo wheels and a whole host of bolt ons. The modification process sure is addictive and I'd do it again. I loved customising each aspect of my car and building it to my tastes. Not saying it couldn't be done with a 350z, but the aftermarket support for parts are massive for the skyline compared to the 350z purely because the r34 has been around longer. It was fast, rough around the edges and ballsy, typical tuner car, I loved it to bits. My Recommendation: both cars are good for different reasons, but... If you have the coin for a 350z, I would personally skip the step I took and seriously look into a V36 Skyline. coupes have a 3.7L vQ engine 240kw standard. Cons are manual isn't available yet, japanese tv and satnav features are useless, but the build quality is a giant leap forward compared to the 350z. I was staunchly against getting the auto but even the auto surprised me, put your foot down and you've hit 100km/h before you know what hit you. My new Job means I'll be travelling a lot and sydney traffic sucks balls, so I guess I can get used to an auto. Here's my one I'll be getting soon, pending bank finance. If you haven't guessed yet I love silver, no better colour to accentuate a cars curves and lines.
