hey guys and girls.....

yeh sorry for the no show.... its been quite a hektic weekend looking at cars...lol..

Is regards to what i want, well im looking at the R32 - love the shape and style..... but i test drove a 33 and love the extra power it has.....quite noticable.... and fun.... so i could buy one of those.... so atm i will get whatever comes along thats a good deal and clean.....thats what im finding hard at the moment - finding a nice, clean skyline...most of em havnt been cared for.... one a got inspected needed 5k spent on it and that didnt even include a decent engine check as i told them to stop.....

seems like a friendly crew down here.......keen to come out on a cruise and meet and greet.

I did a drift day out at sutton a couple of weeks ago in an XR6 (hired) which handled like shit but gave me a jolt and now i want a skyline.......lol....go figure....

My advice is dont settle for a Skyline that has not been cared for, there are always reluctant sales popping up and I have seen some really good examples for sale for the right price recently.

If you want the better looks and chassis of the R32 but the power of the R33 there is a simple solution... Buy a cheap R32 GTST and an R33 GTST front cut(Just Jap in Sydney have these) and swap the engines.

Its not as hard as you might think... (if you know what youre doing :P) - I've done it and I would definiately recommend it!

Anywho... You should come out on Friday night and meet us :)

I remember you, i'm the guy in the silver R32 that was there on that day, skylines will soon take over the public drift courses! haha

Yeh i wont settle for something that hasnt been looked after, i found an R32 that had been very much looked after and was it fairly good condition bosy wise and very good mechanically. He wanted 12.5k and wouldnt budge but he's going to sydney for 2 weeks and didnt seem that keen on selling it before he went. I'd prefer not to wait 2 weeks but im not going to jump and buy something that isnt decent.

there arnt many skylines in canberra for sale that have been looked after i might add......hard to find....

yeh i remember you zane...... it definitely was a skyline dominated track day.....lol...

What would a decent R32 be worth - lets say fairly stock maybe apart from boost controller, intercooler, exhaust and pod......as a basic starting point.

same with the 33.

a rough price range would be good to know....... ive looked at red book but i know first hand that, that guide is a fairly rough one at that.....

have a look at the for sale section on here. i know there is a couple of guys on here selling their 'lines locally, should be worth a look. after all the looking i did, i realised that it would've been so much easier to have looked at these forums and bought one from an enthusiast who appreciates it and looks after it. as thats why were all here on these forums.....

as for which one to buy, you need to drive both and pick the one which you find most comfortable to drive. you'll fall in love with it after you buy it regardless of which model it is....

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
