try envy imports. They recently bought a number of brand new RB26 heads and have been trying various different porting jobs and getting CNC programs done so they can now get them done on the CNC with hand finishing. I had a look at a few of the heads they'd done and they looked damn good. http://www.envyimports.com.au/contact_us.html 0408 637 489 Herman.

Im doing the same to my Stagea soon (and hopefully me lol!!)

have bought, and have got on hand:

Cometic intake manifold gasket

Cometic intake collector gasket

Cometic exhaust gasket

Cometic Head gasket 1.2mm x 87mm

ARP head stud kit

EPP 6mm viton Intake valve seals

EPP 6mm viton Exhaust valve seals

EPP Intake valve seats

EPP Exhaust valve seats

EPP Intake valve guides

EPP Exhaust valve guides

Q45 90mm throttle body

Greddy Q45-RB25 adapter kit

EPP clear cam gear timing belt cover

Tomei oil gallery restrictor orifice

Tomei hi-lift valve springs ~8.8mm

Tomei 256/256 pon cam shaft set

2x 700cc Sard injector external intake manifold setup

Ive been quoted around $1200 to $1500 depending on how far I want to go with the porting job, from Lewis Engines in Mt Barker Sth Aus.

parts have cost me exaclty $3000 AUS, from Sliding Performance (best dealer on SAU, thanks guys), and Erics Performance Parts (USA Ebay, when the u$a-au$ dollar rate was almost equal)

so all up its a $4000 to $4500 job, plus the retune and basic service stuff. say 5grand.

looking for big torque thru the auto and around an easy 230kw

lewisengines in sa do change over CNC porting which is handy, http://www.lewisengines.com.au/category25_1.htm#178

full pictures and shizzle.

Its nice to see a website like that with all the prices and info provided

i should add i havent used them. ive been thinking about sending a spare sr and rb26 head accross for them to play with, then we will evaluate it once we get it back.

They do have a reputation for their work over the past decade(s)

prices increase if you want extensive port work done though, from mild to wild apparently

talk to Darren Lewis for details

Warlord, how'd you end up going with this? Did you get the head ported?

nar not yet still collecting info ive blown a clutch since this post started and still saving cash, im at 3k now and still need more i want a exhaust manifold, larger intercooler, throttle body as well so next year is looking good.

plus ive got a baby on the way so ill have 2 under 2 next year so it will be the last mod ((yer right))

Haha fair enough man. I just finished pulling my head off, sending it down south to get ported, angled valve job, new seals, new springs etc etc. Then chuck the Poncams in, squeeze 20 pound into her and try to see whether i can finally get my car running with camshafts haha. Ill let you know how i go.

who's doing your head.

Ported and polished, increase of 30% flow to 255cfm. You can increase up to 270cfm but costs an extra $500.

Pressure testing the head. New seals. Angled valve job. Installing my new springs and then decking the head. So pretty much a full reco job.

$1050 plus freight of my head.

I might give them a buzz and see how much extra its gonna cost to install an oil restrictor to the head, figured i might aswell do it while its off. Going to do some more reading on it though.

If that pic of the RB head in the Lewis engines link is anything to go by it seems they remove the quench pads. Meaning your chamber volume will be increased. So you will find you drop comp if your not building the bottom end to suit.

May want to confirm chamber volumes are the same or near the same as stock if your putting the head back on an already built bottom end and not going to a thinner head gasket.

What's a quench pad?! That's a new one for me lol.

Have a look at the link to Lewis Engines in this thread.

Now look at the pics on the site of the chamber for the SR20. Now Look at their RB head. In stock form the RB head is smilar to the SR20 head. You will note that the RB chamber is round. The SR20 chamber is not round but has straight edges in the chamber running down its perpendicular. This formation essentally forms a quench pad in that on the upward stroke of the piston the pad compresses the mixture into a smaller volume into the middle of the chamber right underneath the spark plug and in doing so is said to aid swirl in the cylinder for a more complete burn.

Others argue that the pad - due to is straight ridge it forms in the cylinder - increases the basis for a 'hot spot' under compression leading to detonation.

If you look back at the other thread Shanef posted up a little while ago with pics of his JHH head you will note that JHH doesn't remove the pad but they lay it back towards the cylinder wall in a way that takes away some of the sharpness from pad. In this way they have attempted to keep the pad to keep up swirl in the cylinder but have modified the pad in an attempt to remove the potentional for detonation the pad can cause.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
