lads im interested in upgrading to a front mount cooler for the 32, i was wondering 3 things

1- do the intercooler kits you see doing the rounds include all parts to complete the job?

2- my 32 is a daily driver and most probably will never see much more than 200kw atw, with that in respect, what size core should i aim for?

3- does anyone know if the intercooler piping will interfere with the fog lamps on the r32 m-spec front bar, and will i have to trim up the front bar to fit the core? i really dont want to get rid of the foggies.

any feed back would be great guys. any info on the fog light issue would be much appreciated as that is my main comcern

cheers adam.

The majority of intercooler kits for sale require a hole cut near the battery tray to pass the outlet fmic pipe to the manifold.

Police do not like this in Victoria, and can defect you on it.

An alternative is to buy a return feed fmic, whereby the intercooler piping follow the same way as the factory sidemount intercooler.

JustJap sells a return feed kit; http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Co...er-t209304.html

Problem with any front mount is, if you have a electronic front spoiler on your front bar, it will need to be removed. Along with some possibly shaving the front bar, fan etc to fit the fmic in.

The foglight issue will possibly vary on the intercooler kit and your own installation. Some people hack up their whole front bar to install one, where as some manage to fit it in perfectly. Hopefuly someone with foglights and fmic would be able to comment on their installation.

However, another option it to upgrade the factory Sidemount intercooler with a larger one.

The r34 sidemount intercooler is alot bigger than the factory r32 smic.

Unfortunately, the r32 isnt as lucky as the r33 and isnt a direct bolt on.

The r34 smic outlet would need to be welded on the other side of the smic and might require some modifying to the standard r32 pipe.

thanks heaps for your help guys. i live just around the corner from mercury motorsport in brizzy, so i might drop in and see if those boys can help me out, but i was really keen on doing it all myself. ahh well. any advice on core size, as i want to buy the parts myself, try and save a bit of coin, you know, that old chesnut. cheers adam

    • This car has run before on this z32 ecu can get the part number for you, I have tried with no AFM it didn’t change anything, I compression tested today 140-150 across all 6 cylinders, also set fuel pressure to 43psi. The only weird thing was cylinder 1 plug was black and fouled other 5 cylinders were just wet with fuel. Spun cas by hand and confirmed injectors are clicking

    • A 1.5 way is a 2 way. It is just a 2 way with a less aggressive ramp on overrun.
    • The ABS and/or TCS being missing/broken will not cause the engine to misbehave. It just casues CEL to come on and annoy you. The CEL is useless if it is always on, so you have to do the things you have to do to get rid of it, so it can be useful. Being a Stag ECU, then yes, it will not expect TCS to be present. But it will expect ABS to be present and working. You will need to either make the ABS CU talk to the ECU (don't ask me what that will take on an NA R34), and make sure the hardware is working....or, you just need to blank it out in Nistune. Do not persist with the stock ECU. You will just have problems. Gte it Nistuned. Start from there. DO YOU HAVE A BOOST SENSOR? The ECU's boost sensor that it. It is connected to the loom at the rear of the coil cover. Usually rides on the firewall on an R34, but is usually bolted down to a bracket along with all the other crap at the back of the coil cover when a Neo is dropped into another car. If you do not have it, the ECU will shit the bed. So, do you have one?
