Rear Axle Click

Does anyone know a mechanic in Syd that knows how to fix the rear axle click? i mean it's no biggy, but would like to get rid of the annoying click sound everything i change gear...

Most mechanics should be able to do it.

Best bet is to jump on a 350z or G35 site or look up Nissan USA TSB's for the 350z or G35 and you should be able to pull up a complete workshop process including all the parts needed.

From there most ha;f idea mechanics should be able to do it. Or there's always your local Nissan place, just don't expect them to know what a TSB is :-)

cheers guys, would prefer someone who knows and have done this before, rather than they fiddle around with my car trying to figure out wat to do...

thanks bobby for the link, looks like the bearing n axle joint need to be replaced, i thought a simple lubrication on the joint would get rid of the sound.

No worries, It's funny though that you simply replace the same parts. I'd be a bit worried about it doing the same thing again. Unless they're now using different bearings or something.

Wheel bearing's are ok but i would hate to know what the outer CV joint is worth... mine can stay clicking for a while i think...

Hey guys just noticed a click coming from the back of the car when I take off from standstill quickly and if I then back off the gas suddenly if the car is under load. Only just noticed it because I normaly have my windows up and the air con on + the nismo cat back make its hard to hear things going on outside

dosent sound too bad, If i leave this for a while is anything bad going to happen?

Relax people i investigated this noise a long time ago however i haven't performed the procedure on my car yet, next service.

Replacement of parts is not necessary other that the bolts and washers. Give this to your mechanic to prevent him from stuffing around. All that needs to be done is have the axle retorqued and greased where shown on the diagram.

I have one other question to ask which has nothing to do with the topic however i think it is important that everyone knows.

There is a common problem with our cars in relation to the rocker cover (other name for this is valve seat). My mechanic performed a replacement of the spark plugs and at the bottom of the tube there was evidence of oil. It was on the second bank (when you face the bonnet on the right hand side. The spark plug closest to the firewall had the leak. Has anyone noticed this yet?

Apparently the rocker cover has to be replaced, but the good thing is it is something that doesn't have to be done asap as you do not lose tonnes of oil only a very little bit. Personally im going to wait till it gets worse and have my mechanic monitor it on every service.

Yeah someone posted something about this before, "oily spark plugs" can't remember where i read it.
