i would love to buy every gtr and sell them to those that i feel are worthy, its an awesome car that should be seen as what it was designed for, to race. its awesome in its natural state and commands respect.
Hell yes it is an awesome car, and in its stock state it is a beast all on its own, and damn right it commands respect, it is one of very few cars that can look good without an extravagent kit or crazy modifications, the fact of the matter is that it will be seen as what a person wants to see it as, if they want to hit the track then its a great platform to tear up the black top, but if they want a show pony, it already has an aggressive look but whose to say that a person isnt allowed to modify it to their own tastes?
i just dont see the point... what a waste of money for very little gain. if youre into bodykits and glitz and glam, then what difference does it make if its a gtr?? why not just get a bog stock auto gt...

Well you don't see the point, you said your piece, move on, why turn a thread about a cars COSMETIC STYLING, into something about its performance?

your saying im not an enthusiast and for me to "go back to boost cruising" even though ive been here since 2003... and you're saying im not an enthusiast for having a rant at some git whose knowledge of cars comes from fast and furious and wants put a stupid bodykit on the last GTR with the RB26 platform??

I never said you're not an enthusiast, read back... i said "if you really are and enthusiast you..."

You don't know where his knowledge comes from, your making stupid assumptions about a person you don't know, so you've been a member since 2003, big fkn woop, how many posts have you made in those 5 years? 500 or so... furthermore, how many of those posts have been constructive? or were they all you bitching about how people are trashing gtr's with stupid bodykits and what not? you wanna rave about how long you've been on here for the provide something constructive and useful to other members.

there are no more of the rb26 versions being made... like ae86s, there arent that many left, and the more people that take them and crash them means there are less and less everyday. even though there are still tonnes of gtrs around now, eventually they will sky rocket and be few and far between.

This is true, but you know what, it's inevitable, so better come to terms with it now rather than run around like a headless chook pulling out your hair when you wake up one morning and realise oh shit, there are only 25 R34 gtr's left in the world... that said, who said anything about crashing the car?

if he has the cash, why not get an r35.. that would get everyones attention.

There could be Numerous reasons to not purchase an R35 yet, A/ the price tag, B/ lack of aftermarket support, bodykits, performance parts etc... despite that it is growing fast every day, C/ lack of knowledgeable tuners, not a lot of people know much about this car yet as it is only new. Im sure there are more things that could be said, at the end of the day its his choice, so just get over it... maybe in your next post, you can post something constructive to help nurture the newer members of the car scene since you're a 5 year veteran, instead of slamming their hopes and aspirations into the ground with useless posts.

TO Avanti - Go get your gtr man, im sure it'll make you happy whether you make it a track weapon or a show pony, hell why not even try combine it into both.

gtrkiet - i think they both look ok, the yellow looks a little more realistic than the blue, but the blue just looks down right killer, likes its about to eat ya!

ok ok im bailing... this is getting out of control annnd waay off topic.. i apologise for my first post... shouldnt have backed it up with another but it was nearly 3am and id had no sleep.. bit frustrated, when i saw this thread expecting a nice skyline and saw that thing i lost it. my apologies.

im not saying im a guru, im not saying im a veteran, ive just been here a while, and been a silent member, im not a post whore, i usually keep quiet if i dont have anything constructive but this thread just tipped me off..

im just anti bodykits because they serve no purpose on aus roads.. if you want something to look at, get a picture, if you want something to drive, get a performance car. modifications should enhance the driving pleasure, not take away from it.

i had a bad experience on my first car by trying to be showy, i used to read hot 4s and i ended up hating the car after a short while, what i thought was a good idea, turned out not to be a good idea, i vowed never to put show before go again.

i cant stand people that look at my cars and say they look nice etc.. like friends and family, that feel like thats what they have to say because its a sports car, they clearly dont know anything about it, so id prefer if they just said nothing.. im not out for compliments, im out to enjoy the car and every enhancement ive made.. its for me, noone else.

if he likes it, why does he have to get our opinion?? why does it matter to him what we think of it?? if he wants it, then he can get it, i wont stop him, but if it matters to him if other people think its ricey then hes clearly not ready for it.. its one thing to ask for help deciding on tuning specs, where youve made the decision but not sure on how to go about it thats help... this is different, hes asking if we all like this kit or not.

so i will try and be "constructive".. how is the kit going to look in a year or 2?? when its cracked from speed humps and its starting to warp?? is it going to be worth the attention from the police and can you handle that some people wont like it?? is it going to enhance your driving pleasure and make you feel proud to own it?? how will you feel in 5 years if you still have it?? could you rock up to meet your new gfs parents or your new potential employer in it and feel comfortable that you will earn their respect and they will see past the car??

i think the kit in the picture looks auto salon tacky, maybe replace the rear wing with a nice gt wing, fatten the front guards up and lose a bit in the back end to keep the original boot line. the bonnet looks a little tacky and the skirts are a bit to flat in the face.. maybe they could be like the nismo skirts but a bit bigger.

is that constructive enough?

You know what, its a billion times better,

Honestly, aside from the minute aerodynamic performance gains you can expect from a body kit, the onoly other purposes it serves are cosmetic, and also if you want to get a wider track.

It sounds like you yourself have had a bad experience with something cosmetic, just don't let that ruin it for anyone else wanting to do something crazy or different to a car, GTR or otherwise.

im just anti bodykits because they serve no purpose on aus roads.. if you want something to look at, get a picture, if you want something to drive, get a performance car. modifications should enhance the driving pleasure, not take away from it.

This is where i don't understand why you posted at all, being anti-bodykits, as this is a bodykit thread...

I just took the wing off my 34 (gtt). Why? cos i wanted to be a bit different, i don't see a lot of 34's without a wing on, and i also think it looks quite good, it doesn't really enhance its performance in any way, but its how im liking it.

if he likes it, why does he have to get our opinion?? why does it matter to him what we think of it??

Yes, you are right, that said, maybe its being used as a show car, to get as many people interested and shocked and would like to be praised for his ingenuity and individualism, there are a lot of people who come on here making stupid threads like.. "sti vs gtr" etc... if you want to weigh up the specs, google the models, and asking for peoples opinions on a cosmetic mod isn't always the best course of action because as you said, why does it matter what we think, but some people who don't like to be frowned upon like to know that there are some people out there who think what they have done looks good.

so i will try and be "constructive".. how is the kit going to look in a year or 2?? when its cracked from speed humps and its starting to warp?? is it going to be worth the attention from the police and can you handle that some people wont like it?? is it going to enhance your driving pleasure and make you feel proud to own it?? how will you feel in 5 years if you still have it?? could you rock up to meet your new gfs parents or your new potential employer in it and feel comfortable that you will earn their respect and they will see past the car??

Drive a skyline and your pretty much guaranteed the attention, hell drive an import and its coming your way... thats what our car scene has become, its unavoidable.

If your gf's parents think you're a hoon because of the car you drive, that's their problem, don't let people label you just because of what you drive, it's not hard to show your a down to earth sensible person...

And, most people have second cars when heavily modifying a car.

is that constructive enough?

it's better

i too have taken the wing off my 32.. it makes the car look lower and sleeker, being that its not fat like a gtr, thats all it has, its also excess weight that isnt necessary, as is the rear wiper and motor, and rear boot trim, and the hicas and lines. i also hacked up the front bar to get more air to the cooler, i did a neat job and will tidy it up with some carbon fibre sheet to direct air to the core, i want the car lower to handle better 1st, look better 2nd. its kept clean and tidy and looks neatish for a pig r32, but im not going to the trouble and expense of getting a full kit and painting it. all it needs is to be lower with nice rims that have a good offset.

im not anti nice looking cars and i like alot of body things, but subtle things that enhance the cars orignal lines, so you can see the car for what it is just with a few little bits, like lips and skirts added on.

and first impressions last, i still get chipped by my gfs olds for my first car, people in my home town only knew me by that car, not my ss, or my 33, or my wrx, they all remember that monstrosity that i had first... all because it was yellow with a wing.

Ok i just read this whole thread from the start.

I think it looks cool to begin with.

I think you'd be crazy to do that to your car. Sure it'd look awesome, but every speed bump, every pot hole, you'd damage all your front end, side skirts etc since its way to low to the ground for just normal roads. I have a feeling you'd be paying 10k a year at least to insure that thing. If someone opens up their door and hits it into your car, or a trolley hits it your going to need to spend even more to replace it to keep it looking good. Otherwise people will look at it and be all like "wow nice, except for that dent, it makes it look like shit".

Also people will key that car, theres lots of jealous dickheads that can't handle the fact that some people actually work hard to achieve things they want. So these jealous bogans just damage your car for revenge.

If you did that to a car i'd just do it for looks, i wouldn't bother about spending 60k on the engine, i'd spend 10k or 20k maximum. Theres no need for it to be the fastests R34 around when your just driving at the speed limit, sure you'll be the first to hit the speed limit but you could easily do that in a R34 and only spend like 2k on the engine.

If i had the money i'd probably do that to a car too. But by me meaning if i had the money, i'd want everything else like a house etc which appreciates in value rather than spending 100k or more on a car that you'll resell for 30k max. I'd do that if i was rich, like a billionaire type of thing. But even then i'd think its too annoying to drive.

As a show car or just driving to very specific locations that you know you don't pass any speed bumps or anything that will damage it then sure, but not as a primary driving car. I've kind've repeated myself in a couple areas but yeah thats just my opinion. You'll be the coolest 17 year old around for a couple years, but while your spending money on your car and others are saving for a house, when they have a house and you have a car, i know what person i'd think is cool.

Also being in the army would you even have time to drive it much? None of this was meant to be in a negative tone or anything (you can never tell when its on the net), i'm just saying this in just a general tone and its my personal opinion so i'm not trying to force my ideas on to you.

Thanks for reading.

good son of rajab... that yellow car looks like it has hemorrhoids... and not the fun type either.

If you have an R34 GTR and want to do that to your car, then save yourself the trouble and money and just take to it with a sledgehammer. Its give you results which are just as shit.

Just remember kids, it may be fun in photoshop, but in the real world its called scraped tyre walls, a tonne of bog, and fender lines that belong on some crazy ass japanese vanner with a mural on the side of some kawaii schoolgirl.

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
