I'm not entirely sure if this post is on the correct forum but I am just curious as to why a certain percentage of people who place posts on this site appear to have great difficulty in spelling words correctly. Is it a culture thing or is just laziness. Like I said, just curious that's all.

Cheers

And I did'nt even mention grammar.

:)

This is quite funny actually, the other day I was reading a letter (typed) that my boss had just written. The amount of errors was amazing...thing is that he types on forums and in-game so much that it carries over to his work.

I doubt it is laziness in all of you, you still have to type the word so why not spell it right, as mentioned above a lot of the time it is when we type fast so we can answer before someone else, this is when we mess up. My personal favourite/problem is "The" normally I spel it like "teh" .

Its all good though, besides it gives us something to do...first work out what the person is saying then work out if it will work :P

BOOSTMEISTER's right, it's not laziness. It's a combination of ignorance and illiteracy. Why does it matter? Because English is how we communicate on this forum, not teen speak or l33t speak or whatever the **** it is some people try to pass off as english. You aren't being graded on spelling and grammar, but you will come across as a dumkoph if you can't get the simple things right.

Tolerance is important of course, people for whom english is a second language can be forgiven, but a lot of native english speakers need to put in more effort.

as long as it makes sense then it's all good...

i tend to type in all lower case, and also not in "proper" sentences on forums... but you can still read what i'm saying.

but when ppl write like 2rismo said:

"wot getz me iz wen dey typ lyk dis n it pisses me of... "

well, I really cbf trying to work out what they're trying to say half the time :P

In my line of work, i am typing for seven and a half hours straight, for government departments and private sector clients also, and i have to be correct, and fast. If not, i get my ass handed to me. So i find that now when typing anything, from forums to instant messages, my grammar, and spelling are almost perfect. Compared to "type it out as fast as i can, who cares if it's right", where i was before i started working here.

But as others have noted above, as long as it is semi-coherent, and not just a mish-mash of letters, it's all good to me :P

    • Haha no I'll do that one tomorrow. I've been ignoring it. It's the 5.0 one I'm taking about. (There is a little X to hide the 4.7 one if you want)
    • So I'm going to have to keep ignoring the 4.7 update, or whatever version it is? Poop. I was hoping you'd put me out of my misery.
    • We have a huge update coming in the next few months, version 5 of Invision will be released. I'm holding off any changes until after this change as I'm not sure what features will be removed or introduced.
    • Yeah, plenty of air flow, there is a dedicated path that feeds the air in to the OEM intake tube behind the bumper As for a "tangible effect", maybe, but getting the pod/intake air out of the hot engine bay is worth it psychologically to me, even if it gives no performance difference, so the tangible effect in my Lizard brain saysss yessss  In the end, to me a tangible effect isn't always about performance, sometimes it a sound or a look, or even a...... feeling  Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga
    • yeah first and reverse is where you will find clutch release issues (whether hydraulic or mechanical) because the difference in revs required is the highest there; particularly changing down from 2nd to 1st when still moving. To be clearer though, it is possible that the clutch release bearing is the wrong height. This is less likely than a hydraulic issue but it is not unheard of when you are mixing and matching
