i dunno about a gtr screamer but an rb25det screamer is $100 from just jap.....

why cant you get a pair of these for $400, get an angle grinder and a welder and make your own screamer for $400 for a set for both turbos on your gtr???? it'll probably take you a good hour to make it up, just plan how your going to do it before you start cutting lol

So you have a big single, with external wastegate and so on?

Otherwise, with stock turbos, or internal gate turbos, its a waste and all the hot air is going to do is mince the rubber hosing

I'd say he just wants the "WAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" when you floor it

my motor is being rebuilt as we speak. Forged pistons forged rods. Sump baffle garret 2860 turbos powerfc and much more. So the turbos just a little bit bigger.

And I want it to sound tuff when I get back. Im putting 13 grand into it. So I wouldn't want anything to wreck it I guess.

Dumb question what's an external gate and where isit located

I've only still got a stock cooler! If that helps LOL

I'd say he just wants the "WAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" when you floor it

And your exactly right LOL I do want to hear the sound of waaaaaaaaahhhhh when I floor it

Good stuff mate!

waste of time with your small twins. they have internal wastegates. internal wastegate turbos are not designed to have seperate pipes from the wastegate and the turbine outlet. you can tell this as there is just one outlet and one flange for both. on an external wastegate set-up you have a seperate wastegate and it has it's own outlet. most often people will merge the wastegate oulet pipe with the turbine outlet pipe somewhere along the exhaust. some however leave the wastegate pipe to vent to atmosphere (a screamer pipe).

it is possible you could get some kind of frankenstein set-up to try and vent your internal wastegates to atmosphere but it won't have good result. you will have a constant exhaust leak and your car will sound like some kind of tractor most of the time. all the exhaust in your engine bay will possible melt stuff and discolour everything. and it wont sound that great either when the wastegates open. seriously, don't bother. you want a screamer then you need a turbo that does not have an integrated wastegate. also, they are highly illegal in every state of australia and if you are caught with one you could find yourself with a serious problem.

I am running hacked up HKS dumps on my twin rr581 low mounts. As long as they have welded in a seperate plate between the turbo wheel outlet and the wastegate inside the dumps it will sound fine at idle, its when ppl don't do this that it will sound bad.

I didn't really do myn for sound, I was actually looking for just a good set of HKS dumps without the screamer, just happend to get these off JPS for a damn good price second hand. They sound sweet but, just like any other screamer I have heard, and they are a definately an improvement as far as exhaust restriction is concerned.

Try hit up importmonster and they like, they are readily available through yahoo japan second hand.

so you guys are saying I shouldn't get it going to atmosphere. Would those dump pipes in the link above be suitable. And would dump pipes sound anything close to a screamer.

I wouldn't want it have a leak at all. But I've seen before on r32 gtr with the same turbos and it was screaming at the same time but I don't know his setup and there was no leaking sound and at the same time was sounding very good at idle. Couldve been dump pipes though!

Sounded bloody tuff though!

there is no way you could get a perfect seal between the wastegate and exhaust sides of the housing. and as more exhaust gasses pass through the dump pressure increases and the leak becomes more noticeable. hence why they dont sound the same as proper gate there isnt the same "snap open, snap close" of the gate due to the leak.

put some of your 13grand twoards getting turbos without internal gates and then set yourself up with sopme external gates and screamers if you want to do it properly

Well there you go, proved wrong again by the people that have never done it.

Say no more.

well james 03

do u have interanally gated turbos?

if so does your setup work.

also will dump pipes give and screaming??? at all. or is a waste of my time guys????????????????????

    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.
    • Fark the AFM card and Nistune, Haltech Nexus S3, DBW, cruise control, flex fuel, dis dat.
    • It's most likely the bolt/bush where the cover bolts back wore and allowed cover to move forward.
    • Still haven't put the injectors and R35 AFM in so we can tune the bloody thing for the HG highflow it got mid last year! I think I can forecast the upgrade path to a bigger twin scroll, external gate, Haltech, flex setup, Samsonas, dis dat, etc will be .... a while away!
    • Should have taken that opportunity to slot in a twin scroll turbo setup. Maybe next time.
