I went from a HKS Mushroom filter, to an Apexi POD. I still found the induction noise too loud for my liking, so went to stock air box with an apexi panel filter. Can't really hear the induction any more, but thats cool, now i can hear my engine and exhaust note, which i find alot better :(

Been thinking of going this way myself.

Currently have an Apexi pod, but with a Blitz LM it really limits almost to zero what you can do for cool air.

I dont mind the noise it makes, sometimes i love it, sometimes i "wish it wouldnt do it all the time under load".

Thinking the Apexi panel will be just as good, plus makes the engine bay look a little tidyer :D

PS: Did you notice much difference between the two?

Yeah, after everything i have read, i've come to the conclusion that using the stock air box is a far better option. Not only is it now legal - the pod is not in nsw - but it aids in bringing the intake temperature down, which is better for performance.

Blitz LM here too.. previous two skylines i've had were running this filter. I like it personally.. it's not oiled so it doesn't screw with your AFM. It is a little noisy if it's not boxed. Big no no for Simota filters btw (do a search for "recall simota").

Got sick of the noise of the pod. Unless you shield it and get a cold air supply you're better of with the stock box anyway. I got a Pipercross (highflow) panel filter PP1128-MX [The place I bought it from actually lists it as a "group N special to suit Impreza version 1 - 9]. I don't know that its better than the HKS etc but its about 2/3 the price.
