ive seen that u use a multimeter to set it once it reads .5 volts or something ... i did that and it wasnt any good..... also ive heard ppl talk about resetting the tps how is this done and does it work and what does it do exactly if anything at all.........just wondering how u guys do it and also how u set the idle air controller screw aswell... ive just been fiddling with it and trying to get it the best possible.....any help would be appretiated....cheers Jon

Turn the TPS all the way to the right, slowly turn it left until the revs increase then back it off tad. (so its just before the rev rise point)

After setting the TPS pull off the plug from the AAC idle up value and turn the screw untill your revs are at 650 rpm( with the ecu in service mode( pot turned fully clockwise).......thats what the manual says! But I have found if you plug the AAC valve in and the revs increase it is set wrong. The best point it to keep turning it down untill it's just under the setting were the revs increase. So if the revs drop past the normaL level it will activate immediately.

After this clean out the throttle butterfly as its works on being cracked open 2 thou, any dirt and greasse will upset it.

Lastly reset your idle speed with the pot on the side of the ecu.

Erractic idle is caused buy the ecu not being able to go into closed loop mode. If your oxygen sensor is dead it will never idle correctly. The TPS should be between .43volts and .63volts for the ecu to recognise closed throttle.

Oh yeah, if your oil is dirty or to thick or thin they idle like crap to.

They way I do it:

insert 0.012" feeler blade in throttle stop.

disconnect plug from TPS.

connect multimeter (ohms mode) on bottom 2 pins of TPS.

adjust TPS until 0 ohms (probably switches between 0 and infinite).

reconnect everything.

BOOSTD,

There are 2 TPS, one is a Throttle Position SWITCH, the other is a Throttle Position SENSOR. Both built into the one unit, on the side of the throttle.

The SWITCH tells the ECU that the throttle is closed or WO. The SENSOR tells the ECU how much throttle is being applied.

With 3 wires out? Signal, Earth and Reference. So what you are saying is that the TPS's output at closed throttle is eathed/switched.....can't see how this varies from 0 ohms.

Do you mean switched in the sense-

10%=200 ohms

7% =170 ohms

5% =140 ohms

3% =0 ohms

1% =0 ohms ???

BOOSTD

The R33 might be different. But in the R32, there is a plug directly onto the TPS (this is the SWITCH), and there is another plug that connects to a short loom off the bottom side of the TPS (this one is the SENSOR).

The SENSOR is infinitely variable output, while the SWITCH is basically 2 x on/off switches (closed throttle, WOT).

im just having a stalling problem and in a thread here ppl reported that it helped the problem alot and fixed a flatspot they had when cold also..... what started it was that when i fitted my safc the throttle would only read up to 57% and if i moved the tps it read to 100%...... just trying to sort a few little bugs out mainly....

    • Pads for R32 GTS-t, R32 GT-R non V-Spec (Sumitomo), R33 GTS-t and R34 GT-t are all interchangeable. R34 GT uses a 2x piston caliper, hence it didn't fit.
    • Checked with amayama and nope, the full S2 manual set is not available anymore. Unsurprising, but still disappointing as the ? on availability gave a glimmer of hope.
    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
