Before you start talking about 3g setup's you should probably say what the car is used for. Have you considered that the pads you have may not be right for your usage eg. track pads on a street car or street-low temp pads for a track car. Braided brake lines will also improve feel of the brake pedal and thus more responsive braking, slotted rotors will also increase braking. With these 3 things you are up to about $800-1000 and this will significantly improve your braking without changing your whole setup.

I wouldnt be talking bout doing it if it wasnt needed but its used mostly a daily but does a fair bit of high speed country driving and i also live in the adelaide hills, also want it for a few track days. Car has 290rwkw atm and after only a couple of decent slow downs brakes are hot and pedal starts feeling spongy. Standard brakes and pads atm.

If i was you i'd try some decent pads and some good brake fluid then first before anything, stock pads are for stock power and handling. Spongy pedal feel is your stock brake lines heating up and expanding under the pressure, and as i said before braided lines will help this. Then if you still are not happy, then think about changing your calipers to something bigger. I'm running QFM K500 on my GTT at the moment and they do the job for my spirited hills drive. Also do a search man, theres heaps on this.

Not entirely true, info on F50 or BNR34 brakes is pretty limited....

However, I agree, before sloshing out 3k for an R34 setup, you should try getting some NISMO brake pads and braided lines.. Your pads will hold up to far greater forces and temperatures, the lines will also give you a better feel, as SLEEPR said, the lines WON'T expand and hence the middle pedal won't feel spongey and vauge.

Hey Bud,

I agree totally with the above.

I would assume your current pads are old, your fluid has been boiled or has water vapor in the lines.

I new set of pads Ferodo 2500's would be good and 4 dot fluid then see how you go.

at 260rwkw I feel I need to step up from the stock pads but they are pretty good if you ask me.

Check the group buy section for a disc rotor upgrade if you'd like to go all out

Has had brake fluid flush only a couple of months ago when it got serviced and new turbo added.

Have seen the group buy but was thinking about just going all out and not having to upgrade again if i get more power.

Does anyone know if the GTR brakes fit?

Your car isnt that old so there is probably little to be gained from upgradign to braided lines. Especially if down th etrack you may consider a new setup, your braided lines will most likley not be able to be used with the new setup.

But is pretty simple, check your brake rotor thicknesses, if they are healthy then get them slotted. Just buy some Endless CCX pads and get some Castrol SRF fluid in there. If that isnt enough braking capacity for your car then fair enough...you will most likely need bigger brakes.

Yes R34 GTR Brembos do bolt on. For around the same money your other options are G4 etc brakes which people seem to like especially for the price.

...i will add if you are frying GTT brakes with good fluid and pads on the street, you seriously need to look at how you are driving :P But seriously, you must be hitting some crazy speeds to fry the std gear so maybe best just slow it down a tad :D

Most of the time they are fine, but if i go for a burn around where i live in the hills when noone is around after about 5 mins and a few good hairpins that the brakes arent working as good as they should be, i should point out i only do it occasionally but do alot of open road country driving where i used to live and theres stuff all cops so i cruise at a fair speed and if i want to stop i want it done damn quick.

Thanks for the answers though guys, ill have to see what a set of GTRs are worth and weigh it up against slotted rotors. Can always sell the current setup and use the cash for bigger brakes.

      You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.

      So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.

      Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
