Chassis Grounding Issue

Has anyone experienced a bad chassis earth in their stagea, common prob ? Whilst diagnosing a typical whining engine noise within my stereo I have discovered that my chassis is not that well earthed, 7 ohms resistance from chassis to battery, compared to 0.2 ohms for battery to engine. The culprit looks to be the earth lead from the battery to the chassis bracket (not bracket to chassis), just below the battery on the chassis rail. Will clean connections, and see how it goes.

Anyway, something to lookout for as these cars grow old and the connections gunk up.

When I got my car it had this massive earthing system - heavy duty bracket on the earth post of the battery with huge leads going to about five points on the engine and chassis. I thought it was overkill but maybe it was installed at the same time as the amp under the passenger's seat.

never had any problems with mine . mind you never measured it either . my amp negative is just jammed between the factory scissor jack and its bracket . head unit and boost gauge negative is connected to the metal bracket the head unit gets mounted to . all is sweet . sounds sweet with good head unit and good jvc speakers
