well, i got my last service at the new nissan service depot at wooloongabba and i couldnt be happier with it

they were cheap, went way above and beyond (they greased every lock and hinge in the car, i aint never seen that done before)

did an awesome (4) wheel alignment and was still cheap as (as well as they let me know a few things i need to do next time (leaky gasket, missing bonnet rubber))

maybe they cant do all the hitech stuff gavin woods can, but screw driving all the way down the coast every 5000k

ill be back there for my next service for sure (props to woman for finding them)

yeah i was wondering why you added the last comment ;P

dont read qgl much anymore, mainly because its full of shit now and the flamewars dont exist anymore. The funs gone and the nazis reign.

I was going to ring today but rang outta time being sick. But I have to find someone taht can fix the air cond fan in the dash to work again it died and if I get this fmic shortly I would like someone to put it in, as I'm short of time. Mainly just want the odds and ends fixed and the car tuned up and service. I was planning on doing it at the same time,a nd getting it dyno'd and running smooth, just wondering if gavin would be able to do all this, or would I have too take my car to like 10 different car shops?

yeah i read your dash read me, its pretty easy to take apart, but the thing is I dont ahve much time these days. tadoy I wasnt felling 100% so I went out and got some cash and hunted around to see where i could get teh air cond fan checked and working. The turbo timer is just I have weird the wires to the wrong one, optput 2 is on the igition and not the other wire. fix weekend.

intercooler and piping shouldnt be too hard just need grinder, drill and a coping saw/jigsaw. but first have to see what piping i get with the kit. the bar and lights are easy to take off, but its a pirck to get the bar back on.

I restored a hj ute from 3 write offs,a nd painted it, so I do know a bit about handy work. Learnt most of it as a kid at dads work. Just atm Its cheaper for me to get someone else to do it while I earn the dosh, and if its all put together and serviced then tuned and dyno'd I get a car thats got the works done in one go. None of this every weekend drop off and check crap or get it serviced then next week tuned.

Time is the main issue I have, its a problem to get stuff done when 14 hrs of the day your at work, and 12 on the weekends. just been lucky lately to be able to have sundays off beacuse the dollar is up and not much coming tinto australia atm.

yup, time is money.. i wasn't really implying you were lazy ;) just that its not too hard to do if you want to put in the time. The dash took me about 2 days work so i can see why you'd want to do get somebody else to do it if you didn't have the time!

i took the dash out and tried to get the air cond fan working onthe weekend, and i put the turbo timer in, but connected a wrong wire at the key harness, so I ahve to fix that this weekend, just have the timer off till then. the steering wheel was the hardest to realign, took about 20 minutes to get the wheel on perfect. gotta get a plastic horn bit as the one in mine was broken and need a horn.

went to all jap at virgina, $20 for the plastic bit wher ethe door opener is. and thats second hand. just the plastic not the lever. nad its worn a bit.

    • I mean it's a bit late to say "This won't have any tangible effect and it is not worth spending more than about three seconds on it, please just enjoy the car" But I said it anyway. Does the pod actually get any airflow in that position behind a bumper like that?
    • Hey guys - apologies for digging this up. Has this website been shutdown or is the outage temporary?
    • So, went shopping at Just Jap for things that might work for the intake  After some trial fitting there I ended up with a 3" x 45° silicone bend, a 3" x 300mm alloy straight, and a humped joiner, some minor trimming will be required to shorten some of the stuff, but nothing that is beyond my "ham fisted" skills The guy at Just Jap was most helpful as we had all sorts of joiners,  bends and stuff out trial fitting  Laying it out above the stuff in there it seems everything will fit nicely, and looking at it, it is probably the way I should have been looking at doing it from the beginning, probably..... In the end it is a front bar off job anyway to remove the original stuff behind the front bar that is taking up the required realestate needed, so maybe a Thursday or Friday job And because I'm a hopeless consumer, I grabbed some new steel wheel nuts, the current ones are a spline drive type with a "security" socket, that somehow someone keeps misplacing, the new ones are a basic black steel 17mm hex socket In other news: I just did my "final" tax return, I am now officially a old retired veteran pensioner, and I'm milking the system for all it's worth,  life is good
    • I hadn't thought about the variable power steering assist. Presumably, it will always be the same level of assist as you get in an S14. The R32/3/4 are either helliishly heavy (at low speeds) if the solenoid is not powered at all, or hellishly too light (at high speed) if it is powered all the time. I presume that it is PWM controlled on those cars. I hadn't thought about the S cars not having variable assist. ugh. What crappy plebby cars they must be!
    • Hmm yeah that is a good point. It looks like it'll just bolt in with no real issue besides maybe the bushings being different. My other concern was that 2 pin plug that I assume is used in some way to control the rack solenoid depending on the speed signal from the ecu. The DMAX rack doesn't even have that plug though so, don't think it'll matter. Might just order the rack and see how it goes. Will update this when I figure something out
