Got A Towbar On The Stag Today And My Car Was Damaged.

Recommended Posts

Well as the tread title says I got a towbar custom made and installed onto the stag today. I picked it up and no one walked around the car with me just a yes all went well heres your keys give me your $600 thanks for comming...

When I got home I had a closer look at the job and realised their are all of these small lines in the back right of the rear bumper now (sort of look like stress fractures or scratches in the paint but you can't feel them). I then tried calling them but it was after 5.30 and no answer. So i returend to the garage for a closer inspection and also the interior parts dont lie flat anymore on the right hand side in the boot.

Im no crash repairer but it looks like the bumper will need a re-spray.

Therfore I'm not impressed with the job that has been carried out at all. I will be calling them first thing in the morning to inform them of the situation and we'll see what happens from their. Most anoything thing is that they will want to see it and the place is a good 45 minute drive from home and jugeling that with work is going to suck. Plus me being only 18 theyll try and get around it some how, maybe i need ruby to pose as my dad and come talk to them with me .

Will not be naming and shaming the workshop, but if im not satisfied I will be highly recomending people not to go their.

its a pretend skyline, so it was worked on by a pretend tow bar fitter.

Sorry to hear, I am always paranoid about what happens to my car when its at a workshop.

Take it back and outline your grievances, be calm, and if they wont cooperate just walk out and ring consumer affairs for some advice.

the only problem i see, if they are of the dodgey nature, is that because you have handed over your money they can be painful in regards to fixing it as it has closed the contract so to speak and you've accepted the car back from them. always pays to check out as much as you can BEFORE handing over money to avoid issues - paying for a job done is saying you are happy with the work carried out

Not necessarily. Just because you paid for a service, does not mean you are happy with it.

Take pics in the event you need to send them to Consumer Affairs.

.... Plus me being only 18 theyll try and get around it some how, maybe i need ruby to pose as my dad and come talk to them with me :woot: ...

lol... I could too, i mean... i could have had you when i was 16... oh wait... you don't look chinese do you... :)

Sorry to hear about the car, PM me workshop please so I know not to go.

spoke to the place that did the work thismorning.

They said they were not aware of any damaged caused and would like to see it before we come to an agreement.

How much will it cost to get the bumper re-sprayed?

Think I might go their armed with a qoute from crash repairer so I have something to work with.

i would imagine around 200-250 to paint a rear bar

I just had my car back after my bumper was sprayed, they said the cost of the damage was over 500 to match and spray, just be sure to check the colour after fix, mine is still wrong colour(grrrrrrrr)

painting the whole rear bar is gonna be cheap man...

i got my front bar painted for $450.00 about 6 months ago, so you will probably have to pay the same amount, depending the type of paint your car has...

    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
