I don't think 4" is enough backspace for that rim. I reckon you'll struggle. Measure it up and see.

ok so if i use a 15x10 with a back space of 4" there will be 6" from the hub out. your right i dosn't sound like it will fit

basing it on the rims i have right now. they only have a lip of about 2 inch so just off the top of my head i would say it should be about 5-6 inch back space with a raised ride hiegth and a rolled lip.

i will mesure it up tomarrow. thanks for the help 2rismo

15 x 8 rims may foul the r33 brakes if it does s14 rears fit with heaps of clearance as for backspace youd be looking for 5.5 to 6in backspace slick sizes 26x9 / 26x 10

thanks mate your the only one that was very clear about the situation. my car is a gtst and i will go with the 15x8 with a back space of 6" with the 26x10 drag tires.

what type of tire would you recommend I'm looking for one of the best on the market.??????

what can i do to the suspension to aid in the drag set up.????????

how about changing the spring rate ti a softer one what do you use?????????

i'm new into the drag world i dont know what a pineapples is.

the adjustable rear camber arms i know about and will buy them asap. with the arms your saying to run the rear wheels at -5 deg camber.????????????right.

what is a pineapples ?????????/

No no no.... I meant if running excessive negative camber which you will probably have if your car is lowered and with stock camber arms you won't have optimal grip. Anything between -1.5 and -0.5 would be ideal. -5 would be horrible for traction and tyre wear.

Pineapples (subframe bushes) reduce axle tramp and provide more traction.

They adjust the amount of anti-squat in the rear suspension and also preload the stock bushes so they are firmer and allow less movement.

Depending on how they are installed, you either increase anti-squat and reduce the amount the rear squats or you decrease the amount of anti-squat and increase the amount the rear squats. The only time you would want to increase the anti-squat is if you are having power on understeer or you have really soft rear springs and the thing squats too much as it is and you can't get power down because of the camber, you usually want to decrease it. Letting the rear squat more under power usually increases your traction on corner exit.

Usually the alloy cradle bushes do not allow this adjustment, it is always stuck at neutral, so anti-squat is the same as factory, but you can adjust this if you get some spacers made to sit between the alloy bush and the chassis.

Do a search on pineapples, you'll find tons of information. Also search the differences between polyurathane and alloy bushes and see which ones you prefer.

Just curious mate how do you launch and what clutch you got, ie slip clutch, load it up or just drop it and from what revs.

Been practicing my launches at work( got a nice wide and long road on G land :bunny: ) I either bag it up or bog down but im still on 265 35 18 nankang ultra sports street tyres with 35 psi in them when im practicing my launch.

Ive got a gts-t with stuff done, Excedy H/D clutch & plate and ive got full boost at 4500 with a nice linear curve.

Thanks mate.

yes mate I'm in the states i travel back and forth to the Bahamas. if you like the 240sx check the pis and this link.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9m2QV5QEK_U its when i was building it.

So i have a traction problem. i think this has to do with couple of things that i will list. I would also like everyone to give me there advice on getting this gtst to hook off the line. as of now the car is making the power but i cant seen to get it to stick.

Most off the drag racing we do is not on tracks but on strips off abandoned roads, and we bet for money this car just wont hook and cost me a Heep load of cash. so instead of racing it like that I'm trying to see if i spend some money on the suspension and win back some money and don't let little sentra fwd beat me.

The car is a gtst r33. after reading and asking for help on this site i got some drag rings 15x8 with 5.5 inch back spacing. i wrapped them with 26x10x15 M/T ET Drags (had to down grade the brakes ). the car has K Sport coil overs and for drag i think it may be to stiff. 3 of the 4 rear sub frame bushings are damaged. The car has a stock LSD. The stock rear camber arms were adjusted all the way out and if feel that the camber is still too much off. the car sits low, it may be to low for drag. when i used the drag rims and tires the first time i noticed a pattern on the tire 1.5 inch of the outer edge wasn't even touching the road (10psi),it still looked like new.

the list is as follows.

1. 15x8 5.5 bs 26x10x15 i have these check.

2. need sub frame (pineapple) for drag should i get aluminum or polyurethane.?

3. LSD Kazz should i get a 1.5 or 2 way LSD.?

4. New coil overs for drag. old ones are K sport. can anyone list a drag coil over or spring rate for drag setup.?

5. Does any know if i can fit bigger tires on the rims i have now.? and if i buy new rims and tires with the brake down grade what's the widest can i go in the rear, even if i have widen the rear a little i will.

6. If anyone has any suggestions please help i will post all vids of the even. thanks mates.

I have attached some pics of projects and pics of under the hood of the skyline and so on

thanks again everyone.

dude if thats a true 750hp at the wheels it should light up in 3 rdwith no prob at all but it seam to hook in 3rd and it didnt seam that laggy what size tubo you running ? my r33 used to make 488.9 rwkw on pump fuel and there was no way it was going to hook up on the raod with a street slick ..

ya the cars best hp was about 750- 748 to be on point. but that was using my friends heltec ps2000. now I'm back to the power fc with is limiting afm's. The turbo is a AMS GT950R. That day i was running 18psi, and the turbo maxes the afm out at about 26psi.

The turbo comes in at full boost at about 3800 rpm's. so i would say not laggy at all.

you car sound fast mate do you have any pics or even some videos of it.?

I'm no longer running 7500 rpms rev limiter i moved it up to 9500 and remapped for it, and the obvious a whole re-tune.

the car leaves the line much better with less hanging up. But it still has its traction problems. I'm going to put the stock coil in and give it a go.

cheers mate.

Can you post a dyno sheet? Maybe this is the turbo I need!

I've been looking for the dyno sheet for my car, no luck finding it right now,but i do have a dyno sheet for a evo 9

the engine is a stroked to 2.2 with a fully built motor.

http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-dyno-tuni...yno-inside.html

its a good turbo a bit too pricey but worth it for a t3 framed turbo. what i noticed mate was after running gt30 and up turbos i had a slite lag in third gear. i did everything and could not seem to get rid of the lag. the bigger the turbo the greater the lag. at the time i was running a 280 l/h sard fuel pump. after changing the pump to an external pump that was rated for about 1000 hp, the lag was no more i think at those power level you need allot of fueling.

I hope this helps mate, as soon as i find my dyno sheet i will post it.

cheers.

Sorry mate my mistake i checked with ams performance. the turbo comes in at 3800 and full boost at 4500 rpm. this is about were i got full boost when i checked on the road driving. As for the dyno sheet i cant find it. Next month I'm taking the car back to the states I'll get a new dyno sheet then.

MY old turbo was gt35 and it was good for about 750 hp on Garrett web site.

the ams gt950r spools faster than the gt35 i know this for shore. and its good for 950hp on a t/3 framed turbo

that almost as much as a gt42r i think thats amazing.

ok first of all, from watching the video i can say that your suspension is definately your first main problem. there is very little sag in the rear so you aren't getting enough weight over the rear tyres for traction. for drag racing you want soft rear suspension, not hard. the softer the better. and your camber probably doesn't help either.

secondly, are you heating the tyres up first or just trying to take off on cold tyres? if you are just taking off on cold tyres without doing a big smokey burnout first, that will be your second issue.

also your seem to be running a fair bit of air in the tyres in the videos (you might not be but it looks like it in the video). that will be your 3rd problem. let the tyres down and you will get much better traction. you'd probably only want about 15psi in the tyres.

as for your power, i'd say that the dyno you are on is reading a bit high. i saw in one of your other videos that you said you were making 600hp with a 3037 pro s at 20psi, which is quite a big gap to what everyone around here is making (like about a 200hp difference), so excuse me for calling bullshit. i'm sure that with that turbo the car is making decent power, but i'm not sure it's as high as you think/say.

since you were only running 12psi when you lost, i'm not suprised, although i'd say that your traction issues aren't because of your tyres but your general setup as you wouldn't be making that much power to fry the tyres if the setup is good.

also how old are the tyres? maybe they are old and have gone hard.

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
