my boss has an 08 Sti with MRT ecutek chip and full turbo back exhaust

you would have to pour a lot of money into a R32 GTR to keep up with this thing

mind you all up hes spent about 90 grand on the car just with these two mods and purchase price. pour 90 grand into a GTR and you have one serious machine

15k for and exhaust and 15k for a flash tune???

somebody saw him coming...

i reckon stay tuned for the WRX in the next 2-3 years.

the brand new 09 "Sedan" and "Hatch" WRX ($39,990) is already quicker out of the box than every single sti up to 2008 model (0-100 5.3 seconds STOCK). and it has the same suspension as the 08 Sti.

in a few years when subaru make their car finally look right the base model WRX will be the car to buy. and it will be dirt cheap too for a brand new performance car.

If your boss paid 80K for the STi which looks like a hair dressers car - FAIL!

Jeremy Clarkson drove the new STi (08) on Top Gear, he bagged the hell out of it. Said it looked crap and didnt handle much better. He said the evo 10 runs rings around it, he then did dougnut rings around the STi which was parked, it was a crack up!

Other driving tests showed that some drivers thought the new WRX was not as good as an EVO X but then when the times were tested the new WRX was doing better!

Top gear's a great show but its not the ultimate show for car comparisons, there's plenty of bias on the non-driving side of the car :)

yeh i was going to say Top Gear is definetely not a show to be basing every opinion on. you really need to make them for yourself.

iv driven my boss's sti. its fkn hauls ass. does low 4 second 0-100 times. its making 240kw at all 4 wheels !!!

and the 08 Sti also beat the evo 10 around the Top Gear track. so who cares. im not saying i like it. but i will tell you this.

it goes like the wind with the chip and exhaust it is extremely quick.

i still wouldnt buy one.

Ive had a go of the new evo ix on a skidpan and well, the subaru couldnt be much worse in the understeering department. Other than that its a great car

As far as that actual subaru vs an r32 gtr - id be *very* suprised if i couldnt put a few car lengths on him by 3rd/4th, or even 2nd depending on standing start/roll on.

I've had both a GC8 V6 Sti Four Door and an R32 GT-R. The GT-R is 5 seconds a lap faster for less money - and more reliable as everything is off the shelf. 1/4 mile times would be the same, GT-R would be a flat 11 and the Sti mid to low 12's - no contest.

STi's came in a V6?

lol @ the biased opinions on here.

Assuming both cars are stock, you're should get done on paper, but as is often the case, it will come down more to the skills of the driver than the abilities of the car. If you know your shit, you may well knock him off. Dial up some serious revs off the line...

If you're in Adelaide by any chance, let me know if he ends up beating you and I'll come round and tear him a new arsehole in my car lol. Nothing worse than a cocky Subaru owner...

    • Ok thanks..that was my second question if i can somehow bypass this even with Nistune(that is all i have right now...aparat from stock ECU. So with some aftemarket it can by "bypassed" or make it work?  I know there is Link or Haltech (mainly used). We have ECUmaster here so i will gather some info about it.
    • Yes. You will need to get the original boost sensor and wire it in. That is.... if you plan to use a stock ECU - even a Nistuned ECU. The Nissan ECU will not operate correctly without it connected. And yes, it will do annoying stuff like you are experiencing. You will almost certainly be better off with some aftermarket ECU, than trying to hunt down rare sensors.
    • Ok so ABS/TCS is "not" the problem. Yeah i know now about the ABS with Nistune(i told that to the Nistune guy) but iam not 100% why or why i dont have ABS. ABS cube is in the engine (always has been) but i had braked couple of times rly hard and brakes just locked and scream. Does all Skylines have ABS cube? That boost sensor https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/367633-wtb-r34-gtt-turbo-pressure-sensor-pics-inside/ Is this it? I need to ask but i have a picture of engine bay and i do not see that (100% is not in that place) If i do not have this the car can do what mine is?(cutting around 4000 rpm) Here is the pic of my engine bay(only one i have) BUT i think i dont have that cuz loom was used from my RB20DE NEO and i know (obviously) that it does not have boost control or any wire to that...) so maybe that is the problem? (i dont know for 100% if that car where the engine is from had that)...but i dont have the loom from that
    • I'm with you here. It's either loom has an issue, OR, injectors are not functioning properly. It could even be they're just constantly dribbling, hence the wet, but not firing.
    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
