Hi Guys,

I'll throw this out to the general population but thought I might check with the locals first.

After finally getting them restored it seems I have lost a centre cap for my Sparcos.... It's somewhere between here and Batemans Bay so no chance of getting it back. These wheels I believe to be called Sparco Pythons although I have also seen them referred to as Vipers.

I've attached a pic to remind you all of what these look like... (Bear in mind that mine are a different red as they have been painted which is what I'll do if I find another) If anyone sees a set of these anywhere or has some sort of idea where I can find another please let me know. I have already begun searching the globe but I don't think they will be easy to find.

Please let me know if you have any ideas I'm so pissed off!! I have found one set for sale but at $750 for 17x7s it is really not my desired option.

Cheers

Kat

good luck!

i had a set of these rims, took me a few years to find a centre cap/nut for it.

there is a similar rim which is called python NSII, but i'm pretty sure they are actually called Sparco Hyper Fang II.

yep.. most places just list them as sparco rims..

took me ages to find the name, and then source some centre caps... i *may* be able to find out where my old rims went, because i had 7 caps (original 3 plus the 4 i bought) cant promise anything though!

  • 2 weeks later...

Have you tried contacting Sparco directly? I had a similar issue with my Koya rims, the centre cap on one rim lost the top cap thing and the logo started to fade. E-mailed Koya and they sent me a set of four by express post at no charge. Worth a try!

OMG Really????????? They are 17x9s and I think the offset might be around 40 but don't quote me on that part... I would be forever in your debt for a full new set of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am trying to find a contact for Sparco but easier said than done.

Ok Kat, I called my contact for Sparco parts (not wheels unfortunately) and he said that these wheels arent imported anymore as they dont sell enough units.

The Sparco motorsports parts importer is Unique Autosports - (02) 9620 9000, Im told that the centre caps that youre after will most likely have to be ordered from Italy so expect to pay big $$$ for them.

Thats the best I have, sorry :(

Thankyou matey I will give them a call. Will also try Crimson in Japan who are the ones that make the wheels.

These shouldn't be coming from Italy, should be coming from Japan... The hard thing is we have Sparco in Italy and we have SPARCO Racing in Japan. These are the Racing ones. Had someone from Sparco clear that up for me :(

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
