Thats on turn 3 (immediately after pit straight). The track diagram doesn't do that corner justice, it is a lot sharper early on, then the radius drops rapidly. Gotta brake deep into it, then get on the noise as you apex :cool:

No interstate racing as yet, my job has me away from home 6 months of the year at the moment. Will be doing Dutton, maybe Classic Adelaide, and some track days interstate in the next couple of years though....

hmm would love to see your car at the track..like it would be very similar to our race car..But we have gone all out now with dry sump setup and massive rollcage..Can I ask what ECU and turbos you are running?

The dutton is off tap I just did the NSW round in Nov..I think your more of a Superlap kind of guy!!!!

Dutton is more orientated on motorkana and hill climbs I was a bummed at the lack of good track time and was pissy 2 x lap dashes.. Classic Adelaide would be awesome I want to do that but just be a navigator for my first time..

You would like the SAU Vic track day they awesome peeps and have good tracks over there will be more than us here in NSW soon with Oran Park closing :yes:

I'm running a PWR FC d-jetro and Trust T517z 8.0cm turbos. Had them rebuilt with oversize thrust bearings for when I turn up the boost and add E85.......

With that power i had street tyres and did a 1.25.00 and i try'd not to rev it over 7000rpm

This time i have 300kw, semi slicks, half cage, and i want to fit a oil cooler before i go out. I don't think I'll be running it at full boost though.

Yep once again its a good idea. Close to stock power levels will also benefit as your intake system will not injest oil mist from the head - which effectively lowers your octane rating of your fuel air mix and will bring detonation on earlier. With a bit of boost on board, you will get blow by your rings and oil controls rings, which pressurises your sump and therefore head, and will breath oil out of your rocker cover breathers. Installing a catch can, whether it be with a return to sump a la nismo one, or simply catching the oil and seperating the air (to atmosphere) will negate the above mentioned problem.

I'm going to grab one of these when I grab turbos cam gears and cams. Will get a sump baffle before I even consider taking it to lala, and thats inspite of having an oil relocation and cooler kit installed already. I use the car as a daily so I dont wanna go fooly hektik (bahaha). Sump baffle and head baffle and catch can should be OK with N1 spec turbos and water pump

I'll get there eventually... I just need someone to buy this 2nd hand liver I have for sale....

Reading this I realised that as I want to getting into track work at some point that this would be a good addition to my car - but then I started contemplating defects & Regency. Our cars are a big enough defect magnet without adding something that is gonna cause more woe - and almost everything I'd read had shown most catch cans seemed to be defectable and very illegal. But then I saw:

... But noticed they're pretty much RB26 only (at least based on the description), and that if it did fit to an RB25 that it would stand out as a defect magnet and require removing the engine cover off of an R34 RB25DET (like mine).

Are there any other options in a similar vein that would fit an R34 RB25 (without removing the cover preferably) and that aren't gonna be so obvious whilst still remaining legal?

You could just get a custom one made - any automotive alloy fabrication shop can do it for you. Then you can hide it, or paint it black and run black lines to further stealth up the installation. Isn't it funny - we modify our cars to be suitable for track work, so we can get off the street and enjoy our car in the safety of the race track, and due to our outdated defect system it discourages us!! Talk about a self licking ice cream......

They're a great idea Ben and combined with a front tank (either atmo or plumb back), work very well.

Problem is, when using them on their own and as much as the overhead tanks can catch a fair bit of oil, after only a couple laps of lalla, they still allow mist to be thrown into your FMIC.

Andrew has probably the best solution with his setup, which if I remember correctly, runs both tanks plus all the internal oil mods.........Jess (sinful) also runs both tanks.

The other tank you speak of, is it running the Autech overhead tank as well as a normal oil catch can, or the other tank you speak of radiator breathers like: http://justjap.com/store/product.php?produ...=314&page=1 ?

On mine - the overhead tank feeds another tank instead of back into your rear turbo inlet and PCV valve like the one pictured from just jap. This secondary tank sits in the position of the battery and vents air to atmosphere and feeds oil back into sump.

    • I thought I'd do a write up on an auto transmission fluid change for a the nissan 7 speed Automatic. At some stage the genius engineers decided that the fluid in the trans was "for the life of the transmission", (which seems kind of self supporting to me) and removed the dip stick and fill tube (funnily enough there is still a casting for it). Anyway, for this job you do need 2 specialist tools in addition to regular hand tools, jack and good chassis stands. You need a way to pump fluid up to the transmission; I got one of these but there are plenty of other options: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364584087070 Don't trust the generic listing though, it does not come with the required adapter for the Nissan 7 Speed.     • So I mentioned the apprentice, @LachyK helped take the bonnet off. We just undid the nuts on the hinges and unclipped the gas struts, then pulled the bonnet back a little as the front was catching on the front bar.  I had a good look at everything today and have removed the rams, repaired/reset the hinges and bolted it back together like it never happened. I'll do a separate write up on the repair, and I also removed the poppers from the Fuga today too to save grief down the road.....as said above it is at least $5k to repair retail. I'm also happier about my ability to prepare a race car, and less happy about Nis-nault's engineering (I can hear @GTSBoy sAfrican Americaning) because the top hose of the radiator didn't slip off.......it snapped clean off. By practice I put the hose clamp hard up against the flare on a neck to make it least likely to ever move (thanks @Neil!). I guess that puts a little more pressure on the end of the pipe as it is further away from the rad, but still, that is pretty shit. I've put it back on for now as there was a fair bit of neck still there, but obviously there is no lip on the neck any more so I don't think I'll track it again until I have a new rad. Speaking of which....more research required. It looks like Koyo makes a standard size radiator in ally which I'll grab in the meantime, but I really want something thicker so might have to go custom in the medium term (ouch) Coolant still needs a refill and I have the pressure tester on it over night, but other than a wash down of the engine bay it seems alright. And @MBS206 noted something noisy on the front of the engine and I think I agree....time for a new accessory belt and tensioners I think.
