R34 Vspec Ii Defected For Carbon Fibre Bonnet In Qld

Recommended Posts

Got defected down the Gold Coast yesterday for having a carbon fibre bonnet. R34 v spec II come out factory with a carbon fibre bonnet. It was complianced in NSW with a c/f bonnet, then road wortheyed in QLD as well. Yet I got defected. They wanted to see paperwork showing the bonnet had been complied. Is there somewhere in Qld that people know of, that have complied v spec II's. Any help will be much appreciated.

I was thinking that the other day.

How dumb is it, that you can have a car complied and RWC yet still get Defected?

The whole purpose of RWC = ROAD WORTHY...

Anyways cant help sorry mate, just saw it and felt the blood boil

speak to a compliance shop about it. shogun in brendale is a start. ISASO in meadowbrook is another. both have compliance for the R34.

hope these sites help you ?

see bold points.

also look inside your passneger door jamb. note the compliance shop that certified that car. call them. if it was QLD based I dare say its listed above.

Help so far sounds great, will chase it up tomorrow.

Hey Whitey, got done near Sea World resort.

I put a Z Tune style carbon fibre bonnet on it in place of the factory c/f one, so it stands out more. If a car was built for/ with a c/f bonnet, it shouldnt matter if you change the style of it, should it?

well not precisely, was the z tune stlye carbon china made? As a lot of them haven't been crash tested and don't meet crash tests. Give BLITZ a call.

If i was in your case, i would put the original on and take it to get complied clear defect. Then wack back on the ztune style. If you get pulled over next time just show them the paper work.

That's where they get ya :D

Compliance of CF bonnets obviously depends on your local laws and if the one you replaced the factory bonnet with doesn't comply then you're pretty SOL. An example of which was said above, a Chinese made Z-tune knock-off is most likely not compliant.

yes it does!

you took a factory item off and put a non standard item on there. thats what got you into trouble. put the standard one back on and leave it that way. the police on the GC will mark your car and if you are seen again in non standard trim you will probably end up with another canary..

Did the officer take any photo/s of the bonnet at the time of the incident?

If he/she did take photo/s as a record then you can pretty much say your 1 point and $75 goodbye because the Police can defect you base on the ground:

a) open vents (a safety hazard to both you and other user on the road if there is any oil leaks through the vents)

b) fitted a non factory equipment that effects the ability of the vehicle operation

As far as I'm aware the only ADR approved vented glass bonnet is the Blitz one from up your way. Anything else aftermarket weather it's china or jap made would ilegal for road use I rekon.

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
