Camber Kit Dilemma

Recommended Posts

Hi guys - need some help please!

Just purchased a camber kit, gone to bridgestone tyre center to get them installed...the guy refused to put them in coz he said "they look weak" and there was no australian standard certificate/sticker issued with it.

I purchased the product from ebay...and the seller claims that these kits have been used in the america with no issues what so ever.

Do you guys know of any good places to get them installed and have it wheel aligned in melbourne?

(I was referred to many different wheel alignment places and they refused to do my car because "they didn't have the technology" & bridgestone was the only one that could do it)

Any advice will be great.

thanks!

From ebay? you have a what... $30k - $35k worth of car and you put your trust on some overseas seller telling you the kit that cost a couple hundred is fine and won't come loose when you're doing 110 on the freeway? if anything happen he would not have any responsibility and you'd be very unlikely be able to recover anything from him since he is not in Australia.

I'm sure they (Bridgestone) are just being safe, as if something is wrong you could put the fingers onto them arguing it was a faulty worksmanship, etc.. and they have to go through all sort of paperwork to prove otherwise... and also they DO care about your safety as by law they have a "duty of care".

There has been cases where dodgy, cheap 'camber kit / arm' actually snapped as they could be made out of the wrong material or unable to support your car's weight or the forces during cornering, or the thread just wears out prematurely.

If you still want to put it on otherwise for any reason (e.g. racing), take it to performance workshop that would normally specialising in modified cars, e.g. turbo swap, FMIC, etc, as they'll be more likely to do the job with 'non-AS / ADR approved' parts as is with all aftermarket turbo, FMIC from japan or china that are definitely not ADR approved.

Try Centreline in Thomastown or Fulchrum suspension, if not try Chasers in Dynon Rd. But I cannot guarantee that upon inspecting your camber kit they could indeed saw it just as Bridgestone saw it as 'weak' and refused to do the job. But at least you could have asked so you get a 3rd or 4th opinion... However if you're going with Centreline I would say you'd be better considering the Whiteline camber kit as Centreline is the official distributor and the Whiteline kit is an Australian product so you have some guarantee and support from local manufacturer if anything is wrong. I believe 350Z's suspension part will fit on V35.

Good advice that, spot on Rianto.

Could do a lot worse than follow that advice... and yes I think most 350Z stuff fits V35's

After reading alot about the different camber kits available for our cars, i ended up going with NAGISA AUTO suspension since they seemed to be the ones made to the best quality and jap made too

the KINETIX brand in America do not import this brand as there have been alot of complaints and accidents in America from these rear camber arms cracking and causing the car to loose control on the freeway etc. at speed and crash.

i have the nagisa auto rear camber, front camber and rear toe arms in the car right now and they all fit perfectly with no hassles.

i got mine installed at Powerplay Imports

I've got Nagisa Auto front camber arms, and SPC Performance rears.

SPC Performance are an American brand, but they have a really good rep. They're also about half the price of the Nagisa Auto ones.

O lucky, I nearly bought a set of those eBay ones. That's because Whiteline had no rear camber kit for V35 or Z.

But then I went to the Tyre Factory for an allignment and even though my rear seems to be squatting alot they said it was perfect and didn't need adjustment. That's Tyre Factory for ya. I might invest in thoses SCS ones and a better suspension place.

Thanks guys.

I've called Fulchrum and Centerline, and they have no such kits for the v35 nor for the 350Z. They told me to bring the car in to see if there are other bushings on the market that can also fit the v35.

see how I go when I bring it in this weekend.

Thanks guys...

I went to Centerline in Thomastown, and they said they will need to fabricate a new bushing from scratch. He didnt have any other bushings that could fit the car.

He wanted to take off the rear arm...make some measurements (which will take a day and 600 dollars in labour) have it sent to sydney, and fabricated.

Will cost another couple of hundred dollars to get the bushings made...and another few hundred to get them installed.

pretty expensive...

I will contact other suppliers mentioned in this forum, and see how i go...

once again thanks for the help

    • Yep, I was supprised. Its all about flow rather then housing size.  Doing G35-900 Vs ATR45SS-1 Next. 62mm V 61mm.
    • Of course sometimes you cannot go with the cheaper alternative but I try to weigh it up for the application - am I competing or am I going to the track ten times p/yr. As long as there’s enough information out there to back the cheaper alternative as a good option I’ll go for that.   I’m a bit of a bastard though as it’s my job to reduce costs, particularly on non income generating assets. EUR 500 saved for the diff + EUR 1,000 saved on BC racing over Bilstein and then say EUR 300 versus EUR 600 on an off brand windscreen versus OEM (for example) soon accumulates. I mean, I’m probably gonna put the car in the ditch anyway. Absolutely do not take this as a justification for always buying cheap shitty parts, just a rationale for doing your research and considering what’s necessary for your application.
    • All the above effort, time, swapping out parts in the dark (i.e. no O2 data). You're literally running in the dark.
    • Looks like both of my cars have pressure switch issues. The R32 GTR has 18 flashes on the ATTESSA controller which is "ETS pressure switch circuit". The 4WD light is intermittent, and often just restarting the car clears it. There is an $300 replacement option https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/285675135148?itmmeta=01HXN3YKRGKQ08GRZ5KFKKZWJT&hash=item428390a0ac:g:6CcAAOSwWxBltMEG so if it becomes a permanent issue and I can confirm that the switch is the issue, i have a solution. The NM35 is reporting C1208, and disconnecting the switch causes the 4WD light to go away. Translating from the Japanese shop manual "when the pressure is reduced to 2.6MPa (377 psi) or less: conduction occurs when the pressure increases to 3.8MPa (550 psi) or less: conduction is present. Reference: • Immediately after the E-TS actuator motor stops, the pressure inside the accumulator is high and there is no continuity." Not sure how good the translation is but from what i can deduce this means the switch is normally closed (NC) and as the pressure builds from 0 to 550 psi the switch stays closed, then opens and 550 psi. As the pressure drops from 550 psi to 377 psi the switch stays open then closes again at 377 psi. Is that how these things work? These pressures are a lot higher than the R32 ("control pressure 0-228 psi") but i'm hoping i can find a generic switch (like they've done for the R32) to use as a replacement. Maybe something like https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/355586397452?epid=1676016964&itmmeta=01HXN534AF22ACTG6TGDDQGEQ7&hash=item52ca99d50c:g:mAEAAOSw8ilmBcMh&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8LtWdNlWHgyJ%2F3cbw25S2A1lde3qBi3fJii4T3lQavCz4kpqiD42SmBa4FocMvXCjcxiowHjb8vZ8%2BWxc53BkHv781tkStSnCDaenfGKC3bIp0keK20dfsn9LoPa3TfqaEmAydqqyKobgTdXsGGzsl%2BRjOVGuD8OIpOv%2B0wMl7aUtHg0iJtojbtzA%2BRS8Xfm8Ufjuvz4niwrqglAXFUbkL6J%2FGuHPeeECZhLBBN3iNM1Swl94Fv5zE95YK%2B5O6dxDN1ySNOjdMxkA8yaprbuwRHFQv1nlGh%2FWjekj6EUFR2%2FO4HTsoKtSAkY0Mj1w1uf1w%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR6zFjKXtYw but with a lower close pressure, and thread adapter if required. Am i dreaming?
