Looks like a push to me.. actually have no idea what a push looks like :cool: as I have a pull in mine :P and the assembly didn't look like that..

AFAIK only the 93 got pull.

Its a push.

The slave cylinder pushes on the fork, which pivots on the pivot ball in the bell housing, and so the thrust bearing PUSHES on the clutch.

i was pretty sure i was told the GT-R has a PULL type clutch............

and the conversions to OS-GIKEN etc have kits to convert GT-R to PUSH type....

As described above, GTR's built from late '92 or '93 came with the pull mechanism. Prior to that, the push type is used.

The reason for the change is that the push type clutch fork and pivot ball are weak points if you move to a heavy duty clutch (increased spring load). The clutch fork fails by fatigue at the pivot ball contact point and I believe the pivot cracks just under the head. The clutch fork failure is a actually a problem that goes right back to the early race 240Z's as they used essentially the same design. I've suffered 2 fork failures with heavy duty clutches in the Z.

The pull style clutch mechanism is a much better design and eliminates the problem.

well ive did a quick search, and it is stated that the GT-R uses a PUSH type clutch......

most Cable operated Clutches are pull type where Hydrualic clutches are generally PUSH.

the twin & triple plate from OS-Giken supply Kits with thier clutches to convert to Pull type.

and as far as i remember, the GT-R has a Dual Mass flywheel...

which is used by Push Types....

apparently they cannot be machined...and should be replaced when replacing the clutch.

otherwise slippage can occur.

ook I've done.that.much reading up on this subject and.I can't get a clear answer everybody says different things. I have a 1994 gtr with a push type it appears that year makes no difference to the clutch type. best way to tell is push type is flexible line and is in front of the fork and pull is behind tje.fork with a hard line

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree.     • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
