I just got a quote for $2300 full comp for myself from just car insurance on a 1993 non-turbo r33. No mods. I get my license in March but on the insurance quote i wrote that i just got it in early january. So what i'm asking is, Any p platers got a decent insurance quote yet? How much do you pay and who are you with, how long you had your license? Cheers all.

$1800 with just car, a few mods (intercooler, turbo back exhaust, ect....) but i'm in a 1996 r33 gts-t... i'm on green p's but im 22 (got my lisence before the turbo laws came in). Insurance depends mainly on age, car and how long you have your lisence without a claim.

Personally i wouldn't pay that much insurance for a non turbo let alone a series one non turbo line. But if you really want a skyline and you can afford it + a few extra $grand incase something goes wrong on it, then get it!!!!!

I'm thinking of going the third party fire and theft option because paying 2g a year for insurance on a car which i paid 7g for just isn't worth it!

is that price with base excess?

Yes but if you change the excess, since the car is only worth 7g it still doesnt add up. Thinking of going third party fire and theft and building up a no-claim + good driving then switching to full comp when it's more affordable for me (student).

$2300 for comprehensive sounds realistic. try a quote from famous insurance as well (wont be much difference) but their payment options and slightly lower excess (in my experience) may be the better option.

Yeah it's still $2300

1996 R33 GTR,I have a heap of stuff with the same broker and pay $560 dollars for full comp a year

How old are you if you don't mind me asking? You surely built up a no-claim discount and have your house and all that with the broker yeah? (like you said)

my parents bought me my car for my bday. i know lucky right. well if i was to get it insured in my name i would be paying around $2000 +. however in my mums name she gets some ridiculous figure like 60% off as she has everything insured with them and has been a member for like 25 years. so she will end up paying like $1000 for my car for full insurance, allowing other drivers who drive my car to be covered also. she uses RAC.

doubt it, most if not all insurance now only care about the youngest driver. They have caught on to that trick. Theres only a couple of insurance companies that cover under 25year old drivers for turbo'd lines, and most insurance companies still don't want to play around with import cars. The only way you are likely to drive the car legally insured is in an emergency, trust me try to proove that your driving the car for an emergency to an insurance company... very dificult thing to do.

I have coverage for my younger friend (he's 24,) it only changes the excess from $300 to $1000 when he's driving.

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
