as has been said before ...every mechanic can be a bit of a hit and miss affair. I like Unigroup and have only been taking my car there after getting my line and trying a couple of other places first, but one time they stuffed up big time by misdiagnosing an issue several times which ended up costing me more money than it should have. But to be fair, the issue wasn't easy to diagnose and a 3rd party (specialist) was involved which pushed the cost up...

But yeah, I'd still go back to them for any work to be done for the simple fact that Yavuz, Mark and Darren are all top mechanics and are easy to deal with and not full of themselves. When I had my car at CRD once for a EBC install .. I felt the guy (Jim?) rushed the job and seemed completely disinterested ... probably because it's just a run of the mill < 200kw skyline and not a 500+ hp monster that he works on regularly, but still...

Anabolic, I assume that post was deleted by a moderator because it broke forum rules - no negative posts about businesses. you can explain your experience just don't name the shop publicly.

Ive tried Unigroup, UAS, CRD, and Ricol,

out of that lot the best I found to be was Unigroup by far, I was not happy with the others at all, although Unigroup did scare me a little when they told me to run GTR injectors in my RB20 without the resistor pack as it wouldnt cause any problems.

but other then that I havent had any problems with Unigroup, Yavuz is really friendly and will actually talk to you for a decent amount of time to sort your issues out, Unigroup will always be the place I go back too.

  • 7 months later...

My mate rents a factory in behind Maccas at Dural, just a few doors down from Ultratune. I have had Dave from there do some work on my skyline. I believe that he used to work for MRT.

He's fast and he does know what he is doing. if it is just servicing you're after, i'd recommend him.

Dave does help me out alot with problems that arise from having a 17yr old car, and is that extra bit that gives me that warm fuzzy feeling.

I think Ultratune charge an hourly rate of $75.

Yavuz @ Unigroup FTW

His customer service isn't always the quickest out there but the work that comes outta that workshop is worth the wait for.

Very trustworthy and they've been around quite a while now.

Yavuz @ Unigroup tuned my 180sx took for ever but car made 200 Rwkw 16psi with only bolt on mods but the point i want to make car ran like that for three years with out a single problem, so

Value = yes

Quality = yes

experience = yes

effient on time = NO

but good thread trying to find 4wd in liverpool area so far looks like powertune anyone else have positive negative stories about them?

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
