Wheel/tyre Choices For R35 (circuit Use)?

well I drove a 35 on 19inch TE37s with toyo semis at the weekend. ride height was definitely a concern but was ok around oran park. the car felt good. I didn't really do too much kerb hopping but it was ok on the big bump at turn 4.

the 19inch TE37s are probably the best looking 'downgrade' of wheels i've seen so far. definitely look better than the 18inch options out there.

Yes the wheels and tyres looked great actually. Was there any consensus on the lost time? tyres?

track was pretty green. lots of oversteer when I was driving it, and russ was 2 seconds off his best from last time. but I'd say most of that was track condition. bigger (wider) tyres would help for sure.

Been a bit of rain lately. So what size tyres did you end up running?

Hey guys. New to the forum...first post.

For anyone planning on staying with the stock forged 20" wheels, Toyo has a 20" R888 in stock sizes in development that should be completed soon. We check with them every couple weeks for updates, so I'll post up when I hear more news.

ran with the toyo R888 19s. 255 fronts and 285 rears from memory. may have been 265 rears. I'll check. either way I have a feeling the stockies would be a little quicker. you definitely feel a little more sidewall flex with the larger profile semis, and the car moves around a lot until you can get some good heat + pressure into the tyres. and in general the car was pretty oversteery, but great fun.

interesting to hear the R888's are on par if not slower than the stockies (dunlops?)

makes me wonder if chasing after track rubber is worth the trouble

anyway a set of these turned up for my R35 this week, i'll be heading out to OPGP next week to see how it goes

well it is worthwhile in that you'll eat through the stock dunlops or bridgestones on the track pretty fast, and the replacement cost is double that of some 18 or 19 inch semis. so you get nearly he same performance for half the money. :(

I'll be keen to see what you think of the 55s on the 35. in fact if you want a back to back comparison give me a buzz, I'll be only too happy to come out and have a steer. :(:w00t:

i've now tried the bridestones, the dunlops, and the 888s and so far I think for feel and possibly outright pace the dunlops were the winner. I prefer the bridgestones on the street though. and the 888s are almost as good with some heat in them and half the price of either the BS or the DLs.

Hey guys

I took my R35 out to Oran Park today, and tried out the Enkei's + RE55's

Net result for me is: the RE55's were about 2.5 seconds faster than the stocker Bridgestones (whch i didnt find too confidence inspiring to be honest). The RE55's were AWESOME. Yes it looks goofy, but i will take the 2.5 seconds and stick with goofy :D

Do you know what the Pins? or know where i can find the same pinout diagram for the RB dash plug? Thanks for the advice on the box... i like a 6 speed so might be on the lookout or the box now.. a topic of discussion for another post...

      Put another overflow bottle (ie, a 1.25 coke bottle or similar) under the overflow hose and see if it is being pushed out there or if it is disappearing into the engine.

      Staring on a stand is no issue. You just have to wire everything up, give it fuel and cross your fingers that the stand is robust enough. Arranging the inlet plumbing is often the hardest part, without any surrounding structure to hand some of it from. No need for coolant if you only want to run it for <1 minute. As to the gearbox - I think the little Aisin box is a bit stronger than the other small Nissan boxes that went behind SRs, but I wouldn't be too keen to test its limits with the torque of a boosted 25. I don't know if you can retain the box and the tailshaft. The box won't connect to the RB without an adapter of some sort, which is either a plate that will push the engine forward (which is not good for fitting it into the bay's available space) or push the box back, which messes with the box position and tailshaft length - OR - cut and shut work on the bellhousing, which is a long way from "least modification". I'd be buying a new 370Z 6 speed or similar, doing what has to be done to that to make it fit RB (ie, cut and shut bellhousing) and the requisite tailshaft custom/mods.
