Wagon has been at mechanics since Tues. Ecu must be on the slow boat!! Looks like it's going to be late this week before it's going. Not happy Jan!!! Around $750 for fitting and tuning.

did they not have one in stock? i wouldn't have dropped my car off unless they were ready to go. Its a 1 day max job. 4hrs actually...thats what it took to fully map my 800hp drag car.

$1760 for an ECU which is in my opinion one of the best available and is over $200 cheaper than a GTS-t Apexi Power FC which is quite a basic ecu compared to the Vi-PEC.

$750 for tuning

seems the going rate really...quality costs money

33gtst PFC is ~1650 brand new with warranty, 34GTT is ~1550, this is listed in the Access Autoworks Forum specials, their website may list higher...

That said, only way i would go PFC is a very cheap secondhandie, otherwise squirreling for a vipec

Just rang Pete Locket at (edit) 'Fuel Tech Automotive' and the wagon can finally be picked up tomorrow morning. It was a mission to get it going. It is 99% finished. Pete has ordered another part he found he needed. Will go blow the cob webs out tomorrow and let people know.

Took wagon for a run today to blow cob webs out and let me tell everybody they are all gone!!!!!! Vi-pec works a treat with auto. Wagon goes heaps better. Running 12lbs boost. When part needed turns up I will take car back for a day and have the boost controller fine tuned. Pete is keeping a few trade secrets to himself about auto setup. Just need to wait 12 months to be able to afford a little Garrett and front mount maybe. Another 5lbs would be niiiice now we can tune to suit. In the mean time I can get back to fitting up the GT42R to my RX2 with 13bt S4 engine, that turned up for christmas. I love boost!! Happy boosting to all!!!

That's great news. Any dyno figures? Is the Vipec controlling boost or are you using a seperate boost controller?

Sounds good - a dyno graph with a list of modifications will be good to see. If you get a chance when you do get on the dyno, could you do a run at stock boost so we can compare it to a standard ECU S2 (or as close to as possible)?

did anyone ever answer how it retards timing on auto box shifts?

unless there is some real smart hardware that no other ecu has, anyone running this with an auto is really shortening the gearbox's life.

couldnt you wire it up to work like a flatshift function(which i assume is a timing retard)

It has a lot of computing power and extra inputs so there is no reason why it can't perform this function in exactly the same way that the stock ecu does. However I am trying to get a lot more information as i am keen to get one for my car so I have sent a detailed list of questions to the factory (Link in Christchurch) and will keep corresponding til I get all the answers. I'll post up any significant new information I get or maybe write a wee report.

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
    • Bloody apprentices! 🙄
    • Not sure yet.  Was considering speedtek because it was rated to 800hp, but when I did some research about him I don't think I will go for that🤣 So maybe giken gear set, but I'm afraid it won't be strong enough🙄
