Vote 1 to lock the thread to prevent unnecessary discussion. Details for obtaining meet point are contained in post #1, either pm him or message him.

Agreed, that way there is no shit fights or hurt feelings.

ok steve what about that skyline cruise we went on, were drew crashed and the fella in the other car died. You missed that car by a about a centermetre!! Fair enough at the time we were not driving stupid but we were speeding alot before that.

Everyone does stupid things.

Steven had bought this 180 one week before and had never owned a turbo car let alone one with 225kws. he was following a white car what was going slow so he floored it around them only to have an island there.

Was just a bad move by him.

Ne one ill pm everyone who wants the location later tonight.

thanks guys

I feel for his kids, but a little concerned about a post asking for donations right after so many cruises asking for the same thing. The difference being, one registered charity, one um not.

Regardless of how he died or why... you really have to feel for his kids.

How many of us on this site have been "lucky". Well he wasn't. Thats the ONLY difference due to us not knowing the exact circumstances.

If we hadn't been that minutely so lucky we would be viewed in the same light by people just like ourselves.

Condolences datto

+1 to lock thread.

My cousin who owns an R33 knew Gillies well.

I heard about the accident shortly after it happened. Very nasty accident. Heard pretty much what happened from his friends that were not so far behind at the time the accident occurred.

It was a stupid accident that didn't have to happen. I grew up down south and have NFI why they put those stupid islands there severely reducing the overtaking locations; myself I've almost been caught out at night with the typical 50km/h cruiser that refuses to sit on the speed limit oh shit island better pull back in.

There's just something that is as frustrating as hell when the signed speed limit is 70km/h your on your way to work or pushed for time and you have a rude individual sitting well under the limit with no respect for any one else on the road.

There is enough real estate, push it out to 2 lanes. I suspect they have plans to as it is 2 lanes closer up to KFC etc.

no offence to the dude that started the thread but i think it needs to be locked. otherwise its just gonna end up in argument, everyone is entitlted to their say in the end. its a public forum

take a chill pill everyone and lets keep the peace on sau :/

good call

as i implied, i don't always get it right i may seem harsh with un planned and poorly written thoughts but those that know me usually know what im trying to say

OK, my hand is hovering over the lock button........the last thing we need right now is Nathan in here firing people up........take a deep breathe Nath

Pete, just delete the posts regarding anything but attendance. It would be best for all concerned. This thread does not deserve to be locked, but its been polluted with debate.

    • oh they were with that motor, you need to remove the engine to change the spark plugs (don't have to, but it does make it easier)
    • I certainly fall into the annoyed camp, but glad to hear that if it's happening at low boost then I'm not likely going to blow a turbo and end up with metal shards in my oil. Just feels like it prevents me from really driving it without hesitation and "peak" performance. Wonder if it's the VCAM, it did an impressive job of shifting the torque curve and faster spool, but maybe now it's "too fast" and there's too much air for how open the throttle is.  Based on some other threads, will also do some reading on synchronizing the actuators. They are the default actuators that come on the Garrett's and I would think they would be set the same coming from the factory, but if the turbos don't actually work exactly the same way at the same time as previously mentioned, it would be worth making sure the actuators are actuating together properly
    • I went down this rabbit hole before, ended up sourcing a motor from the UK (I'm in Japan) which also didn't function correctly. With the original motor, I disassembled it and reassembled it and it works somewhat, sometimes. What I could deduce from all my screwing around is that there is calibration of the gears on the inside of the motor and two ramps on the main gear which activate switches that operate the motor and move the sunroof either to retract into the roof or tilt. Where I got stuck was that, it seemed in my case that one or both of the switches that are activated by the ramp on the gear did not always activate and thus the motor did not move, causing it to sometimes not retract or tilt (apologies, I've forgotten which way it didn't work.).  Of course this part is discontinued at Nissan now, it's the same part in the S15 but no other models. I also contacted the manufacturer of the component for schematics - forgot the name, they're based in Gifu - but they declined to share the information due to being bound by an NDA, sadly. Looking through my pictures now, it seems I last had a crack at this in 2022. See, I so kindly wrote "open" and "close" next to the switches. If you figure it out, please do tell me. Those little switches, with the red buttons may need to be replaced.
    • It says 300ZX, does that make it an Aus delivered car? Funny how back in the day I just couldn't care less about Z32's and these days I am just in love with them. Back when Nissan was into pushing the envelope. 🤣
