Now I'm even more puzzled as to how you knew he was my cousin! Or rather, how you knew I was his cousin.

Now I'm more confused!

You said on nissansilvia/hardtuned that you had moved down and were his cousin (he had mentioned you before I think?)

Ahh indeed I did.

Looks like I'll need to have a gander at the Targa Tas website soon and see when things are on and whereabouts in relation to Launceston, so I can plan some day trips around the place to go and watch!

btw for any navis lurking on this thread (who aren't facebook friendly).

Mozza has passed this on to the Rallying Nav's & Co-Drivers of Australia group on facespace...

Peter Leimuss requires a Nav/co driver for the lefthand seat of his R35 GTR SKyline, please conact Helen Coad at the TARGA TAS office to book your seat,

EXPERIENCE IS VERY NECESSARY,Vandenberg pace notes, and weight is an advantage (or lack of!) !!!!! Flights, accom etc provided

Having done 2 rallies with Pete I can definitely vouch for his driving

Aww I so wish I was qualified!! :) That would be awesome!

Leavin his run a bit late ole Pete ineee.

Jenna woulda been spot on for this but she's got a ride in a Dak Dak with Maxxy.

I don't reckon navvie weight will be too much of a drama, heck, they could be 100kg and still only be .002% of the car weight!

Where's Fatz?

fatz is too much of a snob to ride in a 35 GTR. for him it's 31 or walking...

Woosher... I want to join those in blue type.... although I am having trouble reading it when I run the dark page. Check my sig for pics...

Let me know....

Rocket Rosco. - email coming your way when I get back from the land of scams.

I am about to go into race mode... my missus says I'm unbearable and I dont bother with time consuming computor stuff.

Have a fast safe run ya'all. and we will see you in the round house.

Benno - Thanks mate, it was you who made the difference!!! ;)

TT984 Again. :P

Edited by Targa Tom

After spending the 1st evening with the new toy I don't know if I'm more looking forwards to the racing or the recce now!

They really are a very nice bit of kit and I can see why they'd have to be the car of choice for Targa.

Phew! Finally built up the courage to try transfering the car into full Qld rego today :)

Yesterday I obtained mod plates for 6 point cage, brake upgrade, two seater, race seats, harnesses, boot fuel system. Held my breat and went down to Qld transport this morning.... sailed through! YEAH!!!

SHAKE and BAKE! :(

Hey TT, awesome offer my man!!! I've been thinking about it a little more.... car is on a truck to MPC in Melbourne next week, maybe we could send the setup there, they an corner weight and wheel align?

And this "Benno - Thanks mate, it was you who made the difference!!! " is that me or are the kudos for someone else? :)

Hey....... WHO ELSE IS PUMPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wanna go faaaaast!!!

you getting some dms Ben?

who wants to be Ben's replacment in team shake n bake? person must wanna go fant, and/or come and people like a spider monkey.

if dad's picked the car up, i'll be ripping the interior out of the car this weekend. i'll recon i'll need to find the local dryice dealer to get the tar off (nice if one of the previos owners alread did it)

Well Greg very kindly offered a lend of it! Told you before you meet the best people in rallying :(

I'm still tossin it up I reckon I have a pretty sweet dry setup now and I've spent some time in the wet, and a big thing is I know the car how it is. I've no doubt the DMS would be easier to handle in the wet, and likely quicker..... but, the 64 thousand dollar question.... will it be wet or dry? Or both?

I'm also runnin short of time, would need to PAY to get it installed and corner weighted in Melbourne - another 5 to 600 spent.... just gets outa control.! And what if I bend it? I own it then! You're hearin me hey :)

who needs a r32 trained service guy as im not keen to crew form my team as they are running in.... well its not nissan so its to hard to explain :ermm:

Gee mate, if I had only known earlier we could have had time to organise something! I've just shelled out today for my service crew.... three and a one half thooouuusand dollars. Took me an hour to write the cheque! lol

Who is crewing for you Benny? I'm guessing MPC from your earlier post?

well i am a mate of Savmans and skyvas but i wasnt sure what i was doing with last years crew. i will no doubt be floating about over the weekend events but still not sure.

I was on a really good deal last year but didnt really think that anyone would match it for this year so i just sat back. now with all the hype of the even growing i kinda want to be involved again.

sorry about that

What are peoples thoughts on not having time cards this year (allegedly).

The go is they will have a white board at the stop point where your car number and finish time will be written. however, i don't believe whiteboards and markers work all that well in the wet?

I don't like the idea of not having a physical time written.

Why don't you want to service for kerry? don't know enough about the VW? CBF? all of the above?

Should look after savman if he doesn't already have anyone.

Yes Kel, MPC. The guys are great, and always do a superb effort. I was hoping for a speccy deal this year like I got last year, but what with five of their normal runners pulling out over the last couple of weeks, unfortunately, full whack it is.....

    • I hope it's actually possible. This is a write off in insurance world.
    • Yup. 2-way with shallow ramp angles. Still works.
    • That was the first session so not a lot to take from the day. It was low 20s ambient and the coolant had got to 110 (and obviously had some pressure!) so that still needs to be addressed. I haven't downloaded the data yet but will. I had refilled the auto trans with Redline DT6 because it claimed the best viscosity I could find at 100o. It wasn't really long enough to get a good feel for that; while the trans got to 100o in the session it still wasn't shifting crisply as I hoped. I think I'll try a few more sessions before judging. No steering motor overheat but I'd hope not in only 1 session! But finally the suspension; it was night and day over the standard stuff and the car was a couple of seconds quicker on the same crappy tyres, which is a huge difference. I'll stick with that and get some sway bars and a mechanical diff sorted too and see how that all goes together
    • I guess it’s partially a compromise of how my car is used, wanting to be able to switch from drift to grip with track side on-car adjustment. Also partially with the way the knuckles are set there is more static camber but less dynamic camber gain.
    • OK, so update from the track day on Friday It was a classic "an unfortunate series of events'. There were a few cars around and when i checked my mirror coming out of the fish hook I notice some smoke from the rear of mine. Looked again and it was getting much worse, I figured I'd blown a turbo or something to got off it and pulled off the racing line. However.... since it is a left hairpin into a right kink, I was on the inside of the next corner. There was a car passing me on the left and a big drop off over the ripple strip on the right......and someone had knocked the witch's hat that was on the apex about 1m onto the track. So, between those 3, I decided to mow down the cone and not damage my car/the other car. Right choice, but surprising result.  The car decided the cone was a small pedestrian so it blew the rear bonnet hinges up to protect their head in the upcoming person to car impact....I didn't see that coming and like an airbag deployment it happened super fast. Straight into the pits from there, everything was driving fine but it became clear it was a coolant leak not smoke, it was billowing up onto the windscreen. Onto the trailer and home. I'll do a separate thread about the repair (once I work out what it is ), but the immediate problem was the bonnet wouldn't open because the front was pinched onto the front bar and would not release. Ultimately we unbolted the hinge from the bonnet, pulled it back a little and it released from the front OK. "There's your problem", the top radiator hose had popped off at the radiator.
