Got the Traqmate wired in by Damo last night, everything is logging properly...but when the unit is connected, the tacho dosn't work, so I need to see how to fix that. Appart from that I just need to put the side intrusion bars in, and nav seat in on friday, and it's ready for the test at Symmons on Tuesday. Not going to get time to work on it tomorrow after work, cause we're taking the other gt-r to get the cage put in it.

I drove the car back from the workshop tonight, and with 1 muffler gone, and no interior, the car is realy loud. Sounds awsome....don't know if it still will by the end of the event though

I'm over in Perth currently and have been informed that Steve Jones is over in Tassie (has been for a week or so) and will be there until Targa starts so he's obviously planning on a pretty serious crack at this event in his first go. Should be fun to watch.

It really does feel this year that there are so many possible contenders for modern. Cracking the top 10 even will be a challenge. It should be quite exciting!

just finised recce, 1100km today (day 4 & 5 together). Looks like there is a few people down here doing the same, there were quite a few rent a cars, and mainland cars that keps appearing in targa stages. Mt Black and Roseberry are bloody slippery in the wet

we're taking the car for a run at Symmons tomorrow. It'll be the first time it's driven in anger since targa last year.

T-Minus 7 days to recce, would love to be out checking stages right now. just can't :)

looks like I'm getting a day of recce in - lucky Steve/The Car can drive their own way just about every Targa stage blindfold :)

Dunno how you do it! should come down a week early and jump in with one of us.

I remember in 07 doing the east coast (day 2) without recce, was surprisingly good (and fast) when we weren't broken down :)

I am ready to eat, sleep and breathe pace notes

That would be a bit of fun I'm sure - just need an extra week in each day atm to actually be able to do that!

Now that I think of it we only did about a day of recce for Targa last year & would have managed a top 30 finish if we hadn't had the fuel pump fail as we rolled into TC on a stage :D

I reckon you can get away with it at Targa if you've got good notes?

You don't need to be driving flat out off calls to still manage a finish and a good result (in my very humble opinion!)

Notes and a few other goodies are on their way via TNT Overnight first class lil' buddy.

the novice is getting nervous!!

stop being such a big girl Russ

good to see you've finally joined the thread with only 14 (yay!) days to go

i'm having a run of good luck today- the last bit of new gear ordered (new suit, new balaclavas, fireproof undies etc etc etc) arrived.

feels a bit weird to have everything organised for a change!

MAte don't worry, I'm nervous too! More regarding leaving "my baby" (my business) than anything else.

Our chat on the phone last night really helped me get my head straight though mate, thanks.

I'm back from Perth which means it's officially time to start getting organised. This next week is going to fly I'm sure simply because it feels like I'm running out of time.

So we keep threatening this each year but it rarely happens

SAU meet up at some stage? Or we could just all catch up to talk crap for a bit at the welcome party?

I like presents

Im not so much nervous, more anxious only cos i need time in the seat to flush some of this adrenalin through. Recce and prologue should fix that.

If not a few bravery gravy's should!

SO are we going to try and have a big SAU meet up one night, I don't know what everyones recce plans are but maybe we could grab a bite to eat/drink one night?

    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...

    • It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about. Reliability of everything in a 34 drops MASSIVELY above the 300kw mark. Keeping everything going great at beyond that value will cost ten times the $. Clutches become shit, gearboxes (and engines/bottom ends) become consumable, traction becomes crap. The good news is looking legalish/actually being legal is slighly under the 300kw mark. I would make the assumption you want to ditch the stock plenum too and want to go a front facing unit of some description due to the cross flow. Do the bends on a return flow hurt? Not really. A couple of bends do make a difference but not nearly as much in a forced induction situation. Add 1psi of boost to overcome it. Nobody has ever gone and done a track session monitoring IAT then done a different session on a different intercooler and monitored IAT to see the difference here. All of the benefits here are likely in the "My engine is a forged consumable that I drive once a year because it needs a rebuild every year which takes 9 months of the year to complete" territory. It would be well worth deciding where you want to go and what you care about with this car.
    • By "reverse flow", do you mean "return flow"? Being the IC having a return pipe back behind the bumper reo, or similar? If so... I am currently making ~250 rwkW on a Neo at ~17-18 psi. With a return flow. There's nothing to indicate that it is costing me a lot of power at this level, and I would be surprised if I could not push it harder. True, I have not measured pressure drop across it or IAT changes, but the car does not seem upset about it in any way. I won't be bothering to look into it unless it starts giving trouble or doesn't respond to boost increases when I next put it on the dyno. FWIW, it was tuned with the boost controller off, so achieving ~15-16 psi on the wastegate spring alone, and it is noticeably quicker with the boost controller on and yielding a couple of extra pounds. Hence why I think it is doing OK. So, no, I would not arbitrarily say that return flows are restrictive. Yes, they are certainly restrictive if you're aiming for higher power levels. But I also think that the happy place for a street car is <300 rwkW anyway, so I'm not going to be aiming for power levels that would require me to change the inlet pipework. My car looks very stock, even though everything is different. The turbo and inlet pipes all look stock and run in the stock locations, The airbox looks stock (apart from the inlet being opened up). The turbo looks stock, because it's in the stock location, is the stock housings and can't really be seen anyway. It makes enough power to be good to drive, but won't raise eyebrows if I ever f**k up enough for the cops to lift the bonnet.
    • There is a guy who said he can weld me piping without having to cut chassis, maybe I do that ? Or do I just go reverse flow but isn’t reverse flow very limited once again?
