Hi, does anyone have a decent non-rollcage mounting system in their car to take clips when cruising orracing on tracks?

I am looking at getting one for the cruises, but not sure what is good. I found a cheap and nasty made in china one on ebay that looks like it will do the job

Anyone have something similar? I am kinda worried that the continuous suction and violent G-forces will damage my dashboard.

Cheers.

Build one that mounts onto the passenger seat clamping onto the metal rods between the headrest and the seat and sticks out in the middle between the driver and passenger where you mount the camera there.

Search for a GO Pro camera. they're only about $200 and do a good enough job. comes with a special mount that you can adjust. i used one on the weekend and it was easy. you can stick it anywhere........

Powerplay Imports sells one made by "HERO"

But I've got a simple set-up where my Sony Handicam is supported from 3 angles...

i) Suction cup with mobile phone holder from windscreen pointing down

ii) Suction cup from passenger window attached to a stem that reaches out horizontally and screws into the base of the Cam

iii) Tripod sitting on the passenger's seat supporting the horizontal bar and the Cam (from the bottom)

Cute damping effect because of the seat springs!

...just called resourcefulness

The HERO would be better because you can set it up near your splitter and the vid would include the dramatic effect of speed as the tarmac passes under.

Perhaps in 'Photography' someone can take advantage of sound with such a set-up

I've got the GoPro Hero which I'm thinking of selling as might be upgrading.

It's the complete kit including camera and all mounts. There's a suction style mount as well as several stick on mounts which none have been used.

Have only used it twice. Both times only with the suction mount.

Let me know if you're interested.

I used to own a Manfrotto 241v. Manfrotto is one of the most famous camera mount producers, and the 241v was a nice piece of kit.

My issues is that suction cups don't sit on curved glass very well, which ruled out my side mirrors. I eventually went and got a set of Oregon Scientific ATC2K cameras, which I race tape on to the exterior or use their straps etc for the interior.

Video quality, I've been told, is better than the GoPro's. Video (with links to others) can be found

How do you find sound quality Alan?

And where's the best pos'n to optimise the sound quality?

Is vid dynamics best for impact if the cam is placed low to the front splitter?

Ive got a unit called StickyPod

mounts cameras, recorders etc, suction cups or screw frame

used it on my motorbike rides a number of times

would be fine mounted on the roof/bonnet :P or inside of course

    • Yeh I think i'll message an old contact i had for ages that manages his own tyre shop now.. n tell him what i want n work with him before ordering..  Got this 17x9 +30 Driftteks on 245/45/17 PSR Drag Radials on the rear.. They fit well - for your reference in future - Rear guards  have been lipped in & minimal to non flaring of the rear Gaurds.
    • If only it were that easy! I also needed to remove seats, shocks, brake calipers, send my car through a fence, and use measuring and ended up guessing because I didn't remove seats, shocks and brake calipers. It can be hard sometimes Can be a little more complex than 'just measure' if you want to truly measure the entire wheel through all of it's suspension travel. But if you aren't going for every last mm then yeah, you can check the space you currently have and guesstimate.
    • If you own a car, and it has wheels on it, and you know the offset of those wheels, and you have a measuring device, you have everything you need to work out if other wheels will fit.
    • Will this fit? but they are staggered set - RAYS 57DR SEMI GLOSS BLACK 18x8.5 +37 | 18x9.5 +38 5-114.3 STAGGERED SET   or If no go could just get a set 4's wheels of 18x8.5 +37 5-114.3 - would i run 8.5's 235s up front n 245's at the back if I do?   Thanks.
    • Put a clamp on your return line. I have a feeling it's sucking air, and introducing bubbles to your fuel. With a lot of fuel, less problematic. I'd honestly be redoing all the lines in the tank and clamps on everything.   Also, you've given two different answers to the same question: Asked if being followed by the police you could get down to use the whole tank, you said yes you could, so long as you keep off boost. However, you then followed this up that free revving, it would also cause the issues. I'm doubting free revving is enough to make any noticeable boost on what is likely a decent sized turbo.   So now I have to ask, can you actually drive it lightly and use all the fuel, or does it break up even free revving? Also, have you put a fuel pressure gauge on it? Can you hear the pump change noise at all when you're having this issue?
