Hey guys and gals,

Got a r33 gtr and a lot of car audio bits and bods ready to be put into my baby.

A full pioneer gig with single din dvd flip out hu, 2 amps (4chan and mono) 6x9's for the rear and 6" splits for the front. Oh and of course the doof doof speaker for the boot, prob just in a box.

Anywho i was just wondering what stores people have gone through and the workmanship and who you would recommend, preferably south of the river.

Cheers in advance

Geoff

You might struggle with the 6x9's in the parcel shelf though...

It already has the 6x9's in, im just going better quality. it was an import and it looks like the dude had a better setup but removed with the sale of the car.

Also another question, subs in the boot, do they move around alot whilst driving or do you guys bolt down, and if so how does it go with the thin plywood over the space saver.

Also mosoto, does that discount apply for alberts midland coz i was referred to a guy named stuart there?

AHh ok then, if it already had 6x9's then you'll be right (probably has spacers or something yeah?), stock they come with 6.5" I think and there's not much room there..

I have a 12" sub in a box and it doesn't move in the boot of the 32, nothing holding it down except its' own weight.

not sure about midland, Cannington are a Forum sponsor (Mobile Electonics Australia) and they do an excellent job without ripping you off.

I guess you could call Midland (as it's closer) and ask if they do a discount for MEA members.

AND FOR GODS SAKE DON"T GO TO JB OR STRATHFEILD. Sooooo many horror stories from those places.

Oh and don't trust Forum mates named Bubba :D ....................jkn

Bubba, I'd suggest strapping that sub down if you can m8, they make a nasty mess when they let go in an emergency braking situation.

P.S. Gunns, if you've got a decent sub, lose the 6x9's you won't need them, they'll only drag your sound stage backward, unless of course your into that!!!!!!!

Simon or Pete at Alberts Cannington. Join up at MEA ( http://www.mobileelectronics.com.au/forums...Reg&CODE=00 ) and you'll get a 10% discount off the bat

Yeah rang stuart and he said as the install is more of a labour then product cost, he wont be able to do the discount. ive had a few mates get installs done by this guy and hasnt disappointed yet so i might go with him.

Thanks for the advice but ill go with the 6x9's, personal preference.

So decision finalized, 545 for the install of all components and booked for tomorrow.

Thanks for the help guys and ill let you klnow after the install how it looks and sounds

Cheers

Geoff

lol

As for the sub, physically impossible for it too move forward under heavy braking and It has never slid side to side while heavily sideways either :) the box is generic and barely fits in the boot so she's kinda wedged in there heh

i use wst side audio they do a good job and they are really well priced and deal with speakers like focal and a bit higher end stuff... they are holding a SQ comp this week too should go in prob gna hav deals etc

Ryan can you pass on his details? Exactly the kinda person I like, cash! I have 33 gtr, 2 alpine amps, s-type splits fir front and 6.5 rears to go I , I have all wiring cut to size too and just need a helping hand from someone with know how and a garage space to work in

Well i picked her up today and she sounded awesome. you were right bubba, they were 6" on the rears so stuart said if i trade in my 6x9's for ones that fit and bring em back, they can be done... or i can go with the 6x9's and they can cut the back and find a replacement grill for the kenwood ones.

Unfortunately for me i went big on the amps and they dont fit under the seats so they screwed them to the floor of the boot, but when i take her back to have the rears done they will make a custom panel for the amps to free up boot space.

This was the first skyline that stuart had done and i have to say i was quite impressed, everything looks neat and tidy and nothing is out of place except one item, the flashing red light for the immobilizer has disapppeared into the dash so i will ask them about that next time i take it back. But that'll be in a weeek or so coz im off to melbourne thursday :(

Cheers

A very satisfied Geoff

I've got my mono amp tucked away in the boot next to the battery (over the top of the fuel pump lid).

MDF wood to make up a board/bracket to hold the amp. The AMP is screwed onto the board, and the board is screwed into the chassis.

The boxes above the amp are the ABS/A-LSD computers, I think.

    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
