Yeah the auto junk so sluggish, shifts so slow it drove me nuts was gona sell it and get a manual but have never seen one fully loaded,so just did mine, goes 100 times better pulls harder, heaps better on fuel,It was also the first thing i did as for me makes it way more fun to drive, and as for it costing 5-6g thats only if you like getting bent over,I got mine done with 33 box out of a stagea, new clutch, new centre console, pedals, ect. and its cost me $3500 best $$ i ever spent!!!!!

look for alex cims thread about it.

kinds weights up all the bad about it

thread is called ' why i WONT do a manual conversion '

The only bad thing i can think of is that you have to sit your long neck between ya legs on ya way home from work :D

very nice :-)

yeah its gotta happen. More i read about it, and more i think about the auto sedan im driving at the moment, and the autech verison i used to have... much prefer manual for power delivery, power handling and driveability etc.

thats not correct, a 2wd box will bolt upto a 4wd sumped rb25/26 and a gtr box will also bolt upto a 2wd sumped rb engine, they are the same bellhousings and both fit onto the motor which ever sump it has. if u choose a rb25 box from a gtst then obviously u are gonna loose the 4wd but it will bolt onto the motor fine, im not 100% sure on the gearbox crossmembers being the same though.

i stand corrected. must have been thinking about the rb26 rwd conversion

Have managed to find these bits so far -

From a 1992 R32 GTR-

Gearbox

Clutch assembly and flywheel incl bearing

Clutch m/cyl and slave cyl

Handbrake assembly

Pedal set

The car has just done 100,000kms, and slid sideways into a tree. He is using the engine, brakes and diff to go into a 180SX, but is using an R33 GTST gearbox, and the 180 is already a manual vehicle so he doesnt need the above parts.

Was a mint condition GTR skyline mechanically and visually, so its a shame, but at least me buying the gear off him will help with his project!

What else do i need? I'll have to figure something with a centre console - i can have his and maybe adapt the centre piece into the stagea one and retrim it or something. Let me know what else i should get off this car. He is a mate of mine who ive known for a few years, so is happy to not rort me on pricing.

The GTR master is too hard to use as it is a vacuum assisted booster and needs to be recessed into the fire wall. Use a R34/r33 gtst master. Not sure either if the r32 brake pedal will fit. Normally use a R33. Will also need to use a different clutch pedal as well.

I can not confirm all the R32 parts will work or not, as everyone has used and proven most of the R33/r34 parts fit. But unless some tries them, we will all never know.

Kemp...?

ok so i should still try and source the pedal set and master cylinder from a later model.... no worries.

But gearbox, handbrake setup, clutch assembly all sweet by the sound of it....

Buy the stagea clutch pedal bracket from nissan (Jap) you can use the actual pedal and return spring from an r33 gtst get the clutch master from it aswell then just make a clutch line up for it P.O.P The gtr brake pedal can swap over to the stagea or you can getto mod your stagea pedal. now you just need the handbrake from an r33 ( you will need to weld a couple of mounts onto the trans tunnel for it ( if you want a proper job ) some guy's have bolted mounts through the tunnel but I don't think that would pass an inspection if it was in a crash or somthin? dont forget your spigot bearing/bush grab the front shaft from the gtr they are better than the stagea's.

Ok so from the GTR i can use the gearbox, clutch assembly (excluding the pedal and master cylinder), and spigot bush and front shaft... Hmm GTR drive shafts etc....?

From an R33 GTsT i need the brake and clutch pedals and master cylinder, and full handbrake assembly (the one from the 32 GTR wont work?)

From nissan i need the clutch pedal bracket

Not sure about str8e180, his name is John and he moves pianos.

spigot bush get new only couple bucks. come to think of it the handbrake should fit, cut his trans tunnel out from r32 (including the hand brake and trans hole) when you lay it over yours you will get a clear picture. I would just weld his in and repaint it up.

well wish me luck then. I'll take photos of the whole engine out transfer.

Whats the easiest way to get it out? Lift the engine and gearbox upwards and out with the bonnet off?

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
