I got my car tuned a few months ago with a haltech intercepter and the temp that day was around 40deg. The car was running fine untill a week ago. Now when you rev a gear out it starts to pull then it has no power, It feels like it just cuts off. I was wondering if because now the days are around 25deg would the air be colder/denser and it's leaning the mixture up causing this problem? I have also noticed that the exhaust out the back is hotter than i remember.

Thank You

no. your fuel pump is no good. or its supply. stick a guage on it and take it for a hit. deffinatly nothing to do with the tune..

mine was done in similar heat. no drammas at all in freezing gouburn

But it's a new pump. And sometimes it will run fine and other times it will play up. i usually find it will play up in 3rd gear.

Could just be over boosting abit in the cooler air and hitting the boost limit .... have you noticed the gauge when driving being a tad higher ?

If you have access to the boost controller / bleed valve etc , try turning it down abit to see if it help.

I have a EBC and it isn't spiking. I holds boost perfectly

But do you know what the cut is set at in the haltech ? perhaps it was set too close to the mark, and the difference isnt noticable to you on the gauge ? Can't hurt to try turning it down a couple of pound just for a test, if you've run out of other things to try that is.

It will even play up on 6psi

How are you testing the EGT? Any chance you have a leaky blow off valve or some other intake leak forming?

I replaced the fuel filter a few months ago and the compression is fine. I went back to the workshop that tuned my car and as usuall they were useless and rude. I decided to drop the base timing back alot and now the car doesn't play up.... it idles really low now but i will adjust that soon.

ok i have set the base timing to 15deg with the TPS cable off. I noticed that the timing jumped up a fair bit when i pluged the cable back in but i guess that is pretty normal. But driving it after that it still feels like the power cuts as you rev out the gears. The only other thing that im wondering is i have heatrange 7 spark plugs in there and the std coils. Now i dont know much about exactly how the different heat ranges affect different things. I know that when its cold it runs like a dog thats fine but should i go back to heatrange 6 plugs till i get splitfire coils? Or could i just be barking up the wrong tree?

    • My son has an R34 gt auto. I'm looking at methods on how to tune it with the view to be able to further tune it down the track when he is off his P,a and can go turbo. The issue is the 98 gt auto has a seperate TCM and is not compatible with swapping out a gtt auto nistuned pcm ( from what I have read so far ) Please if anyone has info on what to do here I would much appreciate. Realise that some options include manual swap, manualised valve body. Just hoping there is a more direct running option I haven't been able to find. Thanks in advance.
    • Hi Everyone, I did 4.11 gears in my 34 GTR and only thing that remains is to fix the speedo reading (it reads about 15% higher) using the R33 GTR speedo sensor. Few questions:   1. Does the R33 speedo sensor fit right in to the 6sp getrag? I read it does but wanted to confirm because the speedo sensors between 33 and 34 look quite different   2. The connector on the 33 speedo sensor will not plug into the connector on the getrag. Do I just need to wire the pins together manually?  See pic: https://imgur.com/a/NTDzFe8
    • Does anyone know how I could find the part number for bolts used with  r34 with rb25detneo engine lower timing belt cover?   my timing cover was rubbed and i fixed it but upon putting the harmonic balancer i see the timing cover is almost rubbing and that is due to previous owners using general bolts and washer rather than the bolts per link below which sits inside the washer and pull the cover in   not sure if those bolts will fit rb25   https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/326510870741?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAB_7XZxjuciMybdVOTShCs9857686&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338723872&toolid=20006&customid=7jIl12glAAAAVfHSSnyxAmSsdRxnAAAAAA
    • If the slightly higher internal EGR caused by a high flow cat causes detonation your tuner was way, way, way too aggressive to begin with. Timing scatter is a problem unless you go to a crank trigger, winter vs summer blend has different octane, list goes on.
