Inner West Crew Whoretown (toowong/st Lucia/kenmore/indooroopilly And Sometimes Sunnybank?)

John, love euro cars but, Not a fan of the italian stuff though. Falls apart new, and way way way worse with old age.

Servicing is a bitch too. I remember they tried to charge me $900 for genuine heater hoses for my old peugeot 205 gti. and that was with a four week wait

That is possibly the worst dash I have ever seen.

RS is the up spec XR5 I think. Or it's the replacement for it. Either way it's better

I take it you guys don't watch much Top Gear! The RS was a special edition focus, FPV club sent an email to me about them a while ago, there's reportedly 70 of them in Brisbane (maybe Australia?) with only 500 being made globally. There was an episode on Top Gear where they reviewed this car, a subaru and a prototype sports hatch.

Now, if they made these AWD and they could tune the computers, I'd buy one! The problem a lot of guys are having (or were having back when the XR5T's were becoming popular) is noone could crack the software to tune the car.

Have driven one of the new FPV GS, fantastic car. Never driven a stock car that wheelspins without wringing it's neck. Amazing. I always have and always will be a turbo man though. A while ago I heard the new XR8's would also receive a supercharged 5L, I heard that when the GT and GS were in production though so I'm not sure how accurate that is.

Mangs

work sucks. forcing me to do some actual work lately. not impressed. as a result, looking for another job. I feel I should be able to get away with an hour worth of honest work in a day if working for government. I actually had to put in a good 5 hours worth of work today....

If I worked for government I'd be taking up that voluntary renumeration package! They are smart though, all the payments from it will come as one big payment, meaning you'll get hit with a huge tax fee

Has anyone else got a singular "s" down the bottom of the page, below the Fast Reply box and above the advertisement?

I'd imagine the supercharged engines will probably filter down into the XR8's in a few years or so (maybe when the next 10-15kw jump brings them upto the power that the GS has now?)

The supercharged 5 litre v8 is definitely coming. It's the new coyote motor that is in the mustangs in the states. Seriously a very cool motor. I didn't realise they were only making 500 of the focus, that sucks. It's only a little more powerful than the XR5 though so meh.

Miso peugeot is french.....

As for the euro cars they are all the same, italian, german, french, swedish. Biggest issue with them is service history, a good service life they will have minimal problems the usual issues older cars get but nothing too bad, first thing you want to do with the italian cars is rewire them, they have a habit of not fusing anything or not using relays. They like to pump all the power for the headlights through the stalk which normally will burn out, couple relays and a days worth of work and you can fix most of the problems on them

Miso peugeot is french.....

really? explains why all the parts I ordered for it came from france. well, actually they were from britain as that's where i was able to find most of them for the best price, plus I didn't have to translate shit.

the reference for the peugeot was more of a note about the high service costs of european cars rather than inferring that it is italian. i still hate italian cars. the only cars i possibly hate more are russian and british cars.

but good to see you were paying attention

Russian... I wouldn't mind a Niva, they're basically a much more awesome version of the old suzuki serria i used to have.

British.... didn't they make MG B's in the 90's with the same design that they used in the 70's?

The Niva Lada was made from the scrap metal from Russian tanks after the war

And at the end of the day, It's still a front wheeler.

I think you'll find that most stuff has scrap metal in it. Doesn't mean it's any worse than what they'd hvae put in it using pure metal.

By all accounts its a great small 4wd though, particurally for its time. Its no landcruiser of course, but it had decent suspension for its time.

Love the add. "no rust". That thing had rust hanging out of it at the last dyno day I saw you at. Time doesn't heal all wounds especially rusty wounds!

Nah, it just had salt damage (common in imports from northern Japan) in the top lips of the rear guards...

Just means it was never washed by the original owner, the new owner cut it all out and replaced the rear lips...

I was going to do it but really couldn't be bothered, that car owed me about 45k at that stage and sold for half that...

Plus I had a brand new VE SS & Kawasaki Ninja at the time and the skyline no longer offered as many thrills as in the past...

I do miss it very much it was absolutely a blast to drive but i guess my tastes have changed a bit over the years, now i drive luxury and ride madness...

Meh I'm not biased either way. Plenty of good FWD cars out there.

I can remember the thrills a simple mitz cordia gave me and my friends @ 20psi boost...

There were cracks opening behind the front strut towers, had to be scrapped in the end as the car began to tear it self in half...

The day it went to the wreckers we free boosted it and blew the arse out of it, but jesus that was a fun car to drive...

You'd dump the clutch and the dash board was not screwed in properly and it would fly at you and you'd have to push i back to continue driving...

Absolute shit car in many aspects, but it was very fun when we were 17...

Ah the joys of a well earned day off. Might eat some left over Chinese, hook up my amp and speakers, blast some music and finishing unpacking. Good times.

Ikes Cream tonight bishes?

    • GCG is a good company, they're a major distributor for Garrett in Japan as well.
    • Nah, OEM washer bottle and brake fluid reservoirs are fine I don't know what it is with the plastic that Mazda used, some plastics, like the washer bottle and brake fluid res are fine, and still look new after 20 years use, where as the coolant expansion tank, and PS reservoir, that I replaced with new OEM items when I first got the car, turned yellow and started getting brittle a few years later If the dirty yellow stained plastics didn't trigger me there wouldn't be an issue, but they did, much like the battery bracket....... Meh As for going back to work full time to support car stuff, nope, why, because I own a Mazda NC MX5, not a Nissan R series Skyline 🤣
    • I've never heard of CJ-motor, so can't advise you on them. I'd just go straight to GCG for a GCG highflow though. Seems no point to use a middleman. I'm somewhat surprised that the price on the CJ site is lower than the GCG retail price. Even though CJ would get a discount of some sort, you would hardly expect them to give up so much margin. Maybe the price is out of date? Having said that "I'd go to GCG"...when I did my highflow, I went to Hypergear. I did this https://hypergearturbos.com/product/rb25dethighflow/#tab-dyno-results with the R34 OP6 450HP profile. With the BB centre (extra $400) and intially with the standard boost actuator, but I eventually got him to send me the high pressure one when I got to the point of being able to actually use it. Ends up costing the same sort of money as the GCG highflow, but this is, of course, the turbo that I KNOW has a shorter length core and so moves the comp cover rearwards. The GCG apparently doesn't do that. My mechanic also swears by the GCG highflow, given that we have another turbo rebuilder who does something essentialy the same as theirs, using Garrett wheels. He says it stands up at really low revs and makes good power. I haven't pushed my HG highflow past ~240-250rwkW yet (should have a little more in it, but unclear how much) and it does have a fairly gentle boost ramp. OK, it's much better now that I have gotten my boost controller tuned up on it.  A lot of my earlier unhappiness was because I couldn't keep the wastegate flap as closed as it needed to be (including some mechanical issues). I'd still prefer it to boost up nearly as quickly as the stocker, and it certainly a bit slower than that. So maybe the GCG one is worth the first look (for you).
    • Ok thanks 🙂 I will higly consider this. Any "known" company for a good reviews and experience to send that off? Is that CJ-motor good one? Or go straight to GCG site? I need to use VPN to even find some of those "shops" let alone access them 🙂
    • You can literally put in as much WMI as it takes to quench the combustion totally (and then back it off a little, obviously), and it will keep making more and more power. The power comes from the cooling effect of the water (and the meth) and the extra fuel (the meth, which also has massive octane). It is effectively exactly like running E85. One might be slightly better than the other, but they are damn close. But with either you can lean on the boost or the timing (or both) waaaay more than with just petrol and the results are similar. Here's the first thing I googled for an anecdotal bit of evidence. Can't access the attachment without being a gold member, but it is there for the getting if able to, or searched up elsewise perhaps. https://www.hpacademy.com/forum/general-tuning-discussion/show/wmi-vs-e85/
