Marko R1
hi guys, i have an earls oil cooler kit fitted to my gtr currently sitting in front of the radiator (between the radiator & intercooler)...can i relocate this somewhere else which is suitable for air flow? reason i want to move it is so that i can refit the a/c fan in front of the radiator & start using my a/c once again regards, marko Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/262609-earls-oil-cooler-kit-on-my-gtr-in-front-of-my-radiator/ Share on other sites
2LV8ETR
Drivers side if you have a stock/vented front bar. You wont need longer lines to relocate it then. some_cs_student
But doesn't the drivers side have blow off valves? Or are you re-locating them? 2LV8ETR
Minus the holes of course........... Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/262609-earls-oil-cooler-kit-on-my-gtr-in-front-of-my-radiator/#findComment-4498497 Share on other sites
DSTROY
This is where i put mine. I have an aftermarket BOV. If you still have the stockers you might not be able to fit it where i have. N1GTR
Fu(k that, too much effort. Passenger side infront of the wheel. Do a search for the HKS coolers, do the same as that, or come look at mine and you'll see Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/262609-earls-oil-cooler-kit-on-my-gtr-in-front-of-my-radiator/#findComment-4499004 Share on other sites
Beer Baron
for a 32 GTR the most common place is the passenger side front brake duct. you'll need to cut out part of the guard liner behind the cooler to give the air somewhere to escape too and use some thing sheet metal to duct around the core. you may or may not need longer lines. that's about it. drivers side there is not enough room with factory BOVs or most twin BOVs. Marko R1
passenger side would be ideal but my lines wont be long enough. drivers side bov's are in the way how about engine bay? no air flow would be the issue Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/262609-earls-oil-cooler-kit-on-my-gtr-in-front-of-my-radiator/#findComment-4499158 Share on other sites
Ronin 09
come on marko, just get longer lines! passenger side is the go. Marko R1
i'll speak to earls today in silverwater & see they charge - really my only option the other problem is the physical size of the element - its approx. 40cm x 30cm (pretty big) but if i fit it at the right angle it will be good Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/262609-earls-oil-cooler-kit-on-my-gtr-in-front-of-my-radiator/#findComment-4499281 Share on other sites
Ronin 09
that is a big core! the other alternatives I would suggest are, as long as you're not running the factory airbox & resonator on the passenger side: 1. passenger side, flat mount with a hole cut out of the under tray, ducting from the front bar down onto the core; 2. passenger side, cut out inner guard and fit core in the cut out, duct from the front bar cut out to the core; Both ways you are forcing clean cool air over the core. Make sure that, as beer baron eluded, that you allow an exit to the airflow - if you don't the core will be pretty much useless. Marko R1
this is a good option as well i think - easy to fit, sits directly behind the front lower lip the cooler will actually sit tucked inside the car btw - my core is a 25 row Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/262609-earls-oil-cooler-kit-on-my-gtr-in-front-of-my-radiator/#findComment-4530770 Share on other sites
N1GTR
I know a guy who's tracked his GTR very hard and has that sort of mount setup. Its getting a rebuild right now. He reckons temps dont get "that" bad and has a big core like yours. My temps are all lower than his in the same environment and the only difference is the placement of the core, oh mine is also a smaller core than his. Consider selling the one you have and getting a tried and true kit that fits in the passenger vent side, as many have said. Your car will be making big power, which means temp control is important! Earls stuff isnt too expensive...
